We just replaced both water valves along with the water filter and can't see any water coming down the tube to the ice tray, but we do now have water coming out when the water button is pushed. There was air coming out at first but then it cleared and the water now flows from the water side but we can't see any water flowing down through the fill tube in freezer at the ice tray.

the water solenoid valve for the water dispenser is separate from the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . get to the icemaker water supply solenoid and test it if it works alright . unplug the fridge from wall outlet do not close water supply valve. disconnect water tube connection on the water discharge side of the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . pull - out power supply connection of the solenoid coil . connect solenoid valve directly to wall outlet. a faint click should be audible and water should come out from where the tube was removed -- from the water supply discharge side. if no water is coming out with the solenoid plug in , then the solenoid is faulty. but if water comes while solenoid is powered -on , check the position of the icemaker lever. if it is on off position icemaker timer won't activate icemaker water supply valve..move icemaker lever to on and check for water pouring into the icemaker tray' if no water comes out . change the icemaker timer. thanks.
Make sure the water is not splashing out the fill tube rather than the icemaker. Sometimes ice forms in this tube and causes the water to shoot over the tube and run down. You could also try turning the water faucet valve down a bit. Your water pressure could be too high and it is filling too fast. Last thing if you have very hard water the cubs could be sticking in the mold tray and not releasing. When the icemaker fills again there is still ice in ther causing the icemaker to overflow.
if ice maker is cycleing then it is either water frozen at the tube where water comes in. if it is then shut off refrig. remove icemaker and thaw tube out with a hair dryer. makeing sure not to melt plastic in the back panel of freezer. if it is plastic. if it is not plugged then it is either a bad water valve or the watervalve switch in the icemaker.
couple things to check is the fill tube to the icemaker make sure it is clear and free of any ice... sometimes the water will come in and spray in rather that freely flow...this will cause ice to form where you don;t want it... second thing is yes the filter could be a problem... 3rd thing to check is the water valve itself may not be shutting off all the way or not running as much as it should...
Was the inlet tube frozen. If so your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking and when the water reaches the freezer it freezes, blocking the inlet tube. Replace the water inlet valve.
You can Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then
try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell
you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
It's supposed to run down the little gray stand pipe and down the tube to the drain. But, if it's going over the side them the unit is probably not level or there's too much water? The tray migh have warped a little? The exact model number would help me diagnose.
Three possible solutions for you.
1: No water coming in from inlet valve. Check voltage on inlet if you have voltage and no water then replace valve.
2:Icemaker not cycleing. Lift the arm on the icemaker to shut it off and leave it for about an hour. Come back in and turn the icemake back on by lowering the arm. If the icemaker does not begin a new cycle and the arm start rising then the problem is most likely an icemaker. Replace Icemaker
3:Refrigerator not cold enough. If the freezer is not getting cold enough the icemaker will not cycle. Check the temperature in the freezer and make sure it is getting down to 0 degrees. If not then you may have another problem with your refrigerator. I hope this helps you, Let me know if you have any other questions or symptoms. Mike
