How do I remove the agitator from my GE Profile WPSR3100?

The agitator is not working, but first I need to just remove the agitator. Some sites say just yank it up, others say I need to remove the plastic cap, but finding that quite difficult in itself.

Just yank it up is correct, but you may find that difficult sometimes. If so, try sliding a belt or other similar item under the agitator and fastening it to a heavy broom handle, then yank on it straight up. Now that it is off, you should see a upside down plastic can shaped part with one bolt holding it on. Remove that. If that does not come off, you may have to break it off. Next, try to turn the splined metal shaft with your fingers. If you can turn it, your transmission is shot. If you can not turn it with your fingers that's good, just replace the agitator drive (the upside down can thing) part number WH43X10032

Coin stuck in agitator. how is agitator removed

Normally you can take the top of the agitator off with the use of a screw driver or by turning couter clockwise. Once the top is off you should see a nut or bolt. Removing this will allow the agitator to be removed.

My GE washer won't spin or agitate

check the motor capacitor if your motor doesn't turn when powered, otherwise the "wig-wag"coil could be faulty, these coils shift your transmission for different cycles

GE profile washing machine won't agitate it spins out, drains,

Pull the agitator out and check the drive collar splines. If you have the model I think you have just pull straight up on the agitator. Once removed you will see the drive collar with a 7/16 head bolt, remove it and pull off the collar.First before pulling it off spin it if splines are stripped it will spin freely.

AGITATOR REMOVAL GE WASH MACHINE, MODEL WPSR3100

If you remove the top cover to the agitator, inside you will see a I believe 9/16" nut.  Remove this to take the agitator off the shaft.

GE Profile Prodigy Machine not agitating

If the motor runs when it is suppose to be agitating, but the agitator does not move, pull the agitator straight up and out of the machine. Sometimes this is difficult, but you can slip a belt or similar object under the agitator, attach it to a broom handle and yank up on it. Now take the bolt out of the agitator drive collar and remove it. If you can not turn the splined transmission shaft with your fingers you are in luck and should be able to just replace the can shaped agitator drive spline. (part number WH49X10042 ) If you can turn that splined shaft with your fingers you are looking at a new transmission.
