This seems to be a common problem with Canon Pixma printers. Here is a web site with great info and instructions on how to cleand the nozzles on the prinhead:

copy and paste the link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Just installed new black ink cartridge for MP 460. The is printing much too light -- what do I do to get it darker?

Some-times it will take quite a number of print outs for the ink to saturate the system. You could try perfoming a quick or deep clean of the ink heads, do this with the aid of the software that came with your printer. Only clean the Black ink if it is too light. A quick or deep clean will draw ink out of the cartridge and place it where it needs to be, which is at the print head.

Take care!

I have cleaned and deep cleaned the printer a number of times but when I do a print check the yellow line does not print neither does the black line under it print. When I print anything else the yellow...

If a line doesn't print, the ink is out of the cartridge for that inkjet cartridge color. Replace the cartridge. Deep cleaning can use a lot of ink up at a time.

Pink and blue streaks on right side of page

most probably your "soak" pad need exchange. check your manual and change it. when you "deep clean" heaps of ink is absorbed into the pad exacerbating the problem, not solving it.

remove cartridges first and check them for existence of any foreign matter,

check for presence of debris under the head and parking place, remove if any,

i would suggest cleaning of printheads, albeit this can be risky (check first if your ink is soluble in water, isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirit, use that which solve your ink without clumping as cleaning agent), remove cartridges and allow appriopriate solvent to sit few second on metal rasters, wipe them with clean absorbing tissue and repeat procedure till solvent is "sinking" through the net.

remove old and install new absorbent pad under the print heads,

re-install inks, print rest page and then "normal" page. ink on first test page maybe very weak as solvent need to go through first.

if you follow the steps correctly, your should have clean print on the end.

"deep cleaning" is just waste of time, effort and ink. it is better if you create yourself a document with alternative lines of all three basic colours and black and then print it.

All of the ink cartridges are full, but the printing comes out very pink.

Hi,
do the deep head cleaning for few times, it will drain some amount of ink but should work. After each cleaning check the printed nozzle pattern.
PS head cleaning is under printer properties-maintenance.

hope that helped

E 5 problem printera canon210

Hello, Anita.

E5 is usually referring to a cartridge problem.

First, clean the contacts:

(1) Open the printer
(2) Remove the color ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

Your cartridge could be faulty and need replacement.

Hope this helps.

Blue ink turning pink?

Ah! But did you put it the right place? It's sounds like it could be a leak on the cartridge though otherwise.

Colour printing suddenly dominated by red/pink hue. All ink tanks in order

It sounds like you are using aftermarket or refilled cartridges. To clear the sensors and nozzle, install new OEM cartridges, run deep cleaning a number of times (at least 3 times), and then the alignment utility.
Aftermarket/refilled cartridges do not always meet the manufacturer's specifications for quality. Try cartridges from LDproducts.com for your printer. I've never had a problem with their aftermarket cartridges.
Please rate this solution. Thanks.

Exactly the same problem

You might like to try purchasing a new Ink cartridge Carriage after Deep Head Cleaning 4 - 6 times. Sometimes it takes this number of times to clean the Cartridge Heads.
This has worked for me on a IP4000 Pixma.

if it's an inkjet, run any maintenance procedures like cleaning heads, take out each cartridge, take paper towel wet with warm water and touch nozzles gently to remove any dried ink.
