Blow out dust and lightly spray with silicone lube, a little goes a long way! DO NOT USE WD 40 OR ANY OIL BASED LUBE SPRAYS!

Good luck!

Time to buy a new one!

In my expierence, the cost of repairing a point and shoot from a drop (unless it's a broken or missing exterior cover) if close if not greter than the original purchase price.

On top of all this, tecnology in three months gets so much better that vertually anything prior is out dated.

Why won't the shutter on my Nikon coolpix won't open?

hi do you mean the shutter? or the lens cover in front of the lens? if you mean the two leaves that separate when the lens comes out it is probably a lens issue or a spring not working correctly in the front cap.

Everytime I turn on my camera a lens error comes up on the display screen, even if the lens is off. It says I need to remove the lens cap every single time and I can no longer take pictures. I can only...

check to see if part of the lens cap snapped off into one of the connection areas or if the lens cap sensor is a button that is stuck down. If not, there may be damage to the electrical and or optical hardware behind the lens.

Go into the setup menu and try to find an entry for "reset". If you find it, reset your camera.

I am looking for a lens cap that will fit a Fuji Finepix S2000HD digital camera

let me just say that fuji sells the products but doesn't stock replacement parts.. i contacted fuji and they set me an email to call the 800 number. called and they refered me to another 800 number and then they in turn refered me back to the original 800 number. so if anyone is looking for a lens cap don't waste you're time.. they don't carry them..

Remove Lens Cap

We had the same problem with our FZ8. My wife had dropped it and it must've knocked the lens barrel sensor out of whack. I searched google and found a suggestion saying this message occurs when the lens barrel is out of alignment. (http://www.fixya.com/support/t186189-some_reason_camera_keeps_comming_up)

With the lens barrel out, I gently pushed the barrel up, down, left, right and put a little pressure in. Somehow, the barrel worked itself into the right position! The camera works perfectly know. Its worth a shot to save $$$. Be gentle!!

The unusual beeps usually occur when the lens cannot be extended or retracted, often due to dirt in the gearing or the lens cap being left on.
Try using canned air to blow around the outside of the extension cylinder, and, putting a fresh set of batteries in the camera (it probably got stuck on since it couldn't fully retract the lens and didn't complete the shutdown).
If that doesn't work, try taking it to a camera store with repair technicians and having them take apart and clean the lens extension/retraction mechanism.

Simple! Read warnings carefully! It said "remove lens cap and press SET button"! So remove the lens cap and then press the SET button (or arrow downward in the four directions button)! You don´t need to RESET anything...
