Creative Labs Zen MicroPhoto (8GB) possible faulty USB Cable ????

Hi, Have a pink 8Gb CL Zen Micro Photo since January. It has never given me any problems until yesterday. It charges and transfers files via a usb cable. I connect the usb cable to my laptop and to the MP3 player and one of 3 things happens : It charges once the battery if flat, powers up but gets stuck on the last song played; I can see the device driver but the Micro Photo software says the device is not connected; It does not charge atall A bubble appears on my laptop screen to say the device is not recognised and has malfunctioned. All very strange ! I have the latest service pack and firmware and tried to get it to work on my work PC but the same things happened. Do you think I should buy a new usb cable ??? Grateful for any help or advice you can offer. Tracy.

When I had that problem on my Zen I un-installed all the software and rebooted my system and reloaded the software. Not sure why it worked but it did.

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.

Power Surge on USB Port

I'm assuming you're not using a hub but plugging directly into one of the USB ports on your laptop?

First, have you installed all current patches for your PC? I think this was a common error message that was hotfixed some time ago, so be sure your OS is up-to-date. If so, you could try to uninstall all USB ports in device manager, then restart. When your system is up, go to the first USB device and right-click, then turn off warning messages. This is just for the error message, you may have a problem with your Zen as well so try it on a different PC if possible but I'd do that when it's fully charged. You may need to do a hard reset (instructions in your manual) to get it to work but that may delete all of the Zen's contents, so that's a last resort.

Creative Zen MicroPhoto 8GB, in recovery mode, the device is not connected

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Zen photo (8GB) won't go to main menu

Looks like your hard drive has died. Try to hold the on switch while you turn it on. If you cannot solve it with that menu your hd has to be replaced
