Bad bearings on front loading lg washer 1832cw

I have bad bearings on my LG wm 1832cw. I have ordered the 2 new bearings and seal. I have separated the tub and removed the drum. the old inner bearing is all broken & rusted. I removed the debris & cleaned it. but I cannot get the outer bearing out. I removed the motor and all the bolts on the rear of the tub, but the metal piece on the back will not come off. also how do I get the new inner bearing back into the raceway? as their seems to be a ring o the inside. is this bearing put in from the rear?

Thank you for your help!

It turned out not to be such a huge problem, I was able to remove the inner stainless steel basket, and separate the two half's of the Tub, then came the hardest part ,getting the old bearings out. As they are pressed in. I used a one inch wide chisel.then I cleaned the inside of the area with steel wool, I also polished the spindle with the steel wool. Then I lightly coated everything with motor oil and inserted the bearings, they took some persuasion with a hammer and a flat chisel, slowly tapping all around the bearings. I pressed in the bearing cover seal with my hands, I don't know if I could have used some sort of glue on the seal where it comes in contact to the tub? but I didn't...
I also polished all around the tub where it comes in contact with the seal at the door, seems with time the out side of the stainless steel drum gets soap scum around it, wanted to make sure it wouldn't wear down the seal.

    Thanks fort he forum,what a life saver! ~ yfive~

    Hi Mike...

    I'm trying to
fix the bearings on my washer too, but I've run into a big road block.
I'm simply replacing the whole outer tub because it already has the
bearings pressed in. However, I can't figure out how to separate the
stainless steel basket from the outer tub. Could you give me so help
on how you did this? I would appreciate it so much!

Sorry, but you are not so lucky. LG should not even offer those parts, as it takes special hydraulic presses to install some of that. For anyone but the manufacturer them self you must replace the back half of the outer drum (I believe it is a 3045ER0008C in your case) which contains the installed seal and bearing, plus I'd recommend replacing the spider asm 4434ER0002A, as the shaft may be a bit worn where it contacted the seal and bearing, and you don't really want to go through all that work (at least 2 hours) only to have to do it again. A FixYa rating would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Don't think glue is needed.

Sorry to say but the question was not even addressed.

The rear half of the drum was purchased with bearings in place. The problem is how to get the shaft of the inner SS basket out of the existing bearings of the rear half. I have the same problem. May be just tight and may need to do a little pressing to get the shaft to move. I have bounced the shaft end on pavement while pressing down on the back half. Hit the shaft with a mallet while supporting the back half off the floor so basket was free. I do not have a press that will take 30" diameter x 12" deep + another 8" for SS drum to hang into. Any suggestions?

Start/pause button doesn't work

I had this problem with another model LG washer dryer and the problem was just the tiny switch (6mm x 6mm) on the circuit board had worn out. They cost about 30 pence on eBay and are very easy to remove and re-solder onto the circuit board as there are only 2 pins. This saved a huge amount of money for a new control board.

How to Replace Bearing Ball on a LG Front Load Washer??? The bearing ball is leaking water and makes loud noise. need to fix problem please help.

The rear half of the outer wash drum (which contains the rear bearing and tub shaft seal) needs to be replaced. On a 1 - 10 scale, this rates a difficulty rating of about an 8. An experienced appliance tech can do it in about 2 hours, and hit you up for about $500. I do not suggest this as a do it yourself repair. Did you know that the new LG machines use a balance ring to make them much smoother running? (Hint: It may be wiser to replace the machine.)

How do you change drum bearing on lg wm-1290fhb washing machine

It is a difficult job in terms of handling! You require spanners and bearing puller. You require one extra assistance to hold the drum and pull from the front.

You have to change the full set of Bearings with same type and design. Check the bearing housing and the shaft before fixing new ones! Replace the water seals if any

Mike, you don't need to yse any glue cause it is a press fit bearing. I had to do the same thing. I was able to go to my local bearing supply for replacements. And it was much cheaper that going to an online place to buy them. It pay s to search.

Suspect drum bearings

most lg front loaders have the plastic outer drums which have about 16 h/duty screws holding the two halves together. extreemly tricky to strip to gain access to inner bearing and seal. Th/stat, motor, piping and other items have to be removed and dissassembled to enable drum to be removed. that repair i suggest for a service repair.
