Question about Lutron #D-600PH-DK 600W SP Push Rotating Dimmer
I replaced a dimmer with a new lutron dimmer.....The same problem exists. It comes on okay, but when I turn the knob to lower the light it starts humming?????
After installing my own dimmer this morning (Leviton touch pad) and encountering a most annoying humming sound that I thought was coming from the switch area, I started researching. One source suggested replacing the light bulbs with a higher quality bulb, which tend to have sturdier filaments. I replaced all six bulbs and now have no humming. Hope this works for you.

The problem is most likely with the bulb. The filament will vibrate when you dim it. If you use a lower wattage lamp, smaller lamp or a rough service lamp, you will minimize the problem.

Is it connected to a fan motor also? - most dimmers are for lights only - if there is a ceiling fan connected you may experience a humming sound from the dimmer
