Question about NEC VT460 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Dark Picture I have a VT46 that I purchased 2 years ago. I replaced the lamp about a year ago when the indicator came on. And everything has been fine since then until about a week ago when the picture began to get darker and darker. The lamp indicator/light has not come appeared. When I check the lamp usage in the menu, it's only 58%. So, I'm not sure what the issue is.

Re: Dark Picture

If the Lamp condition is okay then check the FE lens just next to the lamp in the projector after removing the lamp out of prj. replace if that is burnt.otherwise replace Lamp.

Epson powerlite home cinema 8100 problem with picture

Dark pictures after a lamp change normally indicate that the lamp isn't aligned properly, or that it has been touched with bare fingers and caused a black mark, or it's an inferior (budget) lamp.

Dark spot

These bulbs are very sensitive to contamination. When installing a bulb, do not touch it with your fingers, as this will leave your natural oils on it and that will become a hot spot and burn out the lamp.
Use a clean piece of toilet tissue when installing the new lamp to eliminate the above.
Good luck!

Picture way too dark to watch comfortably. Have already adjust all settings to maximize brightness. Bulb was replaced late last year and says 1,000 hours have been used but projector has not prompted me...

Unfortunately dim image is normally due to a defective lamp assembly. I'd recommend removing the lamp and inspecting its condition. You'll notice black corrosion build up or a bubble is starting to form around the filament of the bulb if it is what's causing the dim image.

Newer lamp not workering

I don't think that resetting the lamp is the problem if you have had it in there for a few months already. This lamp is rated for 2000 hours. That is abaout 1 year if you use it about 5 or 6 hours a day. If you don't use it that much you should get close to 2 years. There are a variety of factors that will reduce the life of your lamp. Do you let the fan continue to run after the projector is turned off? If not, you will see about half of the regular life. Are the filters clean? You can use a vacuum or rinse out foam filters to clean out the dirt and dust. The lamp needs good air circulation to cool evenly. Are the vents blocked or close to another componant? I'm pretty sure that you just need another lamp. If the lamp was purchased more then 4 months ago, you are probably out of warranty. You can save yourself some money if you buy the bare bulb and replace it in the old cartridge. It looks like the complete lamp module from Sharp runs around 295.00 but the usually have a bare bulb available. We supply a variety of brands fior each projector. Sharp XR-10X Bulb works once then nothing

this is something which sharp didnt foresee!!!!!!!!!!
sharp has two identical models
sharp xr10x & the newer model xr10xl.both the lamps look alike , however both have a different rating & reverse connector!!
i.e both cannot be interchanged!however if u have the old xr10x & if u try to fit the new bulb which is lower in wattage, it will explode in 20 mins
if you have bought a used projector , then u wont know if someone has interchanged the ballast!!
as this model was discontinued 2 years back!!!!
so confirm the model , it is mentioned under sharp name or at the bottom
good luck

Projector Lamp

Hi there

Does your Projector go in for regular services ?

Have a technician check out the fans of this unit as well.

I would suggest you hook up a UPS to this Projector , because eventhough you might not have power dips or failures - the power supplied to appliances is not spike free and Projectors struggle to handle this well.
