Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Bought a new Sharp 46" HDTV. On HD channels only, the picture is sharp but the reds are brown in color and cannot seem to get any red into the picture. Flesh tones look brownish and not lifelike. Have tried adjusting everything from minimum to maximum. On standard TV channels reds appear fine only the picture is not sharp. DVD colors and picture are fine. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Picture not as sharp as it should be

You would need a High Definition cable package. I for instance have Comcast cable with the premium package and High Definition cable box. Also as far as watching DVD's and getting the best picture would be an HDMI cable from player to set. Hope it helps!

Installation question

For any electronic component, use the best connection that is available.

Good = standard composite/rca/yellow, red, white
Better = component cables (red, green, blue, white, red
Best = HDMI (find them cheap at www.monoprice.com)

LCDTV - Picture problem

Do the lines only appear on the Cable box input? It maybe be a problem with your cable. Try to isolate the problem.

Do you see the lines on all sources such as your DVD player as well? If you press the MENU button on the Sharp remote, do the lines go through the menu as well? If yes, it is most likely a TV problem.

A bunch of lines sounds like it is most likely a problem with the connection with the LVDS cable, if not that, then a defective main board.

There isn't really much you can do about it now.
Since the TV is less than a year old, I suggest calling Sharp to locate a local authorized service center.
