Open Question

Gas cooktop PLGC36S9CCB not getting gas

All of a sudden this cooktop now takes between 30-90 seconds to light. Spark is there but no gas for a long delay? Any Ideas? Once it lights it works well and will relight quickly. It is about 2 years old.

There are a series of holes in the burner leading down from the main flame area to the pilot tube, ensure the holes are not plugged/restricted.

What this indicate is that there has been a bring up/meant wire from the wire connection from the main power supply (from the wall) connected to the burner. there are two of solving this problem bellow

put off the power supply from the wall or were ever the power supply is from to put of the the element then two unplug the wire from the wall the unscrew the range the trace the wire down to element (heat provider) from the back properly then test the round the wires and replace the weak wire among them.

You can get a wire replacement from any technician store around your local area but if you are unable to get if your self then you will have to invite a technician to visit your range in order to avoid more damage on it.

Thank you and thanks for using fixya..

I have a 30 in jgp336 gas cooktop that fails to ignite when it clicks what is wrong, it worked a few days ago and suddenly stopped working

usually the spark module is not put back together properly.
1 make sure the spark unit is clean
2 make sure the gas jet is pointing towards the sparker
3 make sure there is no aluminum foil or other metal near the sparker pulling the spark away from the gas

Suddenly my Jenn air gas cooktop ignitors (all of them) do not click and spark, the model is CVGX2423B. I suspect it might be spark module fails, is that right?

It sounds like you need a new spark module which controls all of the burners. It is part number W10475147. It costs around $115.00!

I get spark on all 4 burners but one will not light. It will light with a BBQ lighter. Spark + gas = no flame, was up?

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you have a defective gas valve, or a clog of grease in the gas piping...try taking a needle and poke the little gas holes to clean in the area of the spark unit

I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response, thanks and good luck

I have an amana AKS30E gas cooktop and the ignitors are sparking approximately every 30-seconds on their own. I have checked all the knobs etc and each burner lights fine but with the gas off and ignitors...

I think it's more likely to be a wiring problem, either bad ground or loose connection on the controls of the spark module connector. Look carefully at the switches on the controls to see if they are asking for spark when they're supposed to be off.

Best Regards,

Igniters works, gas may take up to 30 seconds to allow ignition

if you mean that there is gas comining out and it takes time before the gas ignites then check that the electrodes are not broken as this will allow the spark to go to earth and the gas will have to 'chase' the spark, not advised as the gas could build up and be a potential hazard. remove the top of the gas rings and make sure that they are clean, also clean the metal part with a brillow pad or wire wool to increase the chance of the spark reaching its designated point, ie. closer to to the gas thus ignition will(should) be almost instant. hope this helps.

If I'm not mistaken, these dacor cooktops have an automatic re-ignition (meaning if the flame goes out, it will just relight it without you having to do it) If none of your burners will light, you probably have a bad spark ignition module. These are somewhat hard to change, as you have to take all the burners off and disconnect the spark wires and take the whole top of the cooktop off to get to the inner workings. Also, to get these burner bases off it takes a special tool by dacor, AND you usually have to replace all the burner seals once you take them apart.Your other, simpler option is to unplug the cooktop and plug a lamp or something in to the outlet the cooktop is using, just to make sure you have power. Just cause the breaker doesn't look like it's tripped, doesn't mean it isn't bad and the outlet is dead. Hope this helps!
