When you call an internal extension and the extension is either busy or ringing, you can invoke the Ring Again (Call Back) feature. If Ring Again is activated when the dialed extension is ringing, you will be notified when there is activity on the phone and the phone becomes idle. You cannot use this feature on outside lines, and while your phone is idle.
#73 is a a feature you use on a telephone line to cancel call forwarding (cfw) of an outside call (some codes may differ). You need to have the dial tone of that outside line to cancel the cfw. to cancel the cfw of a norstar set (internal calls to extension) just press the cfw key or press 'feature #4'
If you recently dialed 4-0 or 4-1, those are Do Not Disturb and Call Forward codes. if this is what happened, then dial the cancel code for both, which is 4-2. This is with internal dial tone, don't grab an outside to do this. You could have someone dial your extension to test if the ringer is faulty. if their call comes in as voice announce, have them add a 1 to their dial sequence and their call should switch to audible ring, and you will know it's not a ringer issue. Adding a 1 can be done continuously if you want to switch back and forth.
Direct Line: 1.Check telephone line.2.Make sure telephone line is connected in line in port not in extension.3.connect extension telephone phone to the device & check for the dial tone. Dial the number and observe weather extension phone is ringing? A. *If extension phone is ringing check display is there any message like "ringing".. wait till fax tone comes,if not check "basic fax settings"... if setting are OK .. Replace formatter B. *Extension phone is ringing no message displayed on device replace "LIU" card.. If extension telephone is not ringing check telephone line.. No out going faxess: *Check line is connected though EPABX , if connected Check..prefix setting.. *Check out going.. Best of luck...

By default, Panasonic numbering is 101-164 and 201-264. The Intercom gives you dial tone and you dial the 3 digit extension number. Dial 0 should ring extension 101. Normal digital phones start at 101-116 on a TD816/1232 cabinet.
Extension in use means there is not enough battery showing on the line. On our Nortel phone, unplugging the line cord gets the same result (actually check tel line because it's no voltage). Take a phone out to the demarc point outside and plug it into the jack there. If you don't have dial tone, report it to the telco. If you do, then you have an inside wiring problem.
It doesn't exactly work that way, but you can program the extensions back under the buttons. Pick a button that you want to save an extension under and press FEAT *2 the button and dial the 2 or 3 digit extension number. Now the button monitors the status of the extension. It will light whether it's in DND, or busy on an outside or internal call.
First thing you should verify a dial tone on the fax machine. (use any analog phone)
If you have dial tone, press 9 and then a number
Second is it conected through tel. system? (did it have an internal extension) and there is no dial tone then your analog port may be fried. Call your telephone vendor. He should be able to help you.
