Re: dell inspiron 1525 very slow
If you are running Vista on the computer, 3 gig of memory is what is suggested. As far as a sticky space bar, call Dell and have the keyboard replaced if it’s still under warranty. A slow computer could becaused by a number of things -1.InsufficientRAM memory - if your computer has less than 512Mb of RAM then increase it to atleast 1Gb of RAM.2.Registryproblems - clean and repair the registry, it will contain unused registry keys.Use programs such as Registry Mechanic, Microsoft RegClean etc.3.Uninstall/removeunused programs, this will also free up hard disk space.4.Notenough hard disk space - swap file space may need to be increased if Windows hasn'tbeen configured to manage it.5.Installlatest Windows updates.6.Updatevirus definition files and scan computer for viruses, Trojans, malware etc.7.Clearthe Internet cache for faster browsing.8.Harddisk maintenance is required at least once a month to keep it functioningefficiently.Runthe following programs - Disk Cleanup -removes temporary files that are no longer used and to recovers hard diskspace.DiskDefragmenter to make fragmented files into contiguous files and thereforethe hard disk access is faster.
It could be that you have not insert the memory sticks in correctly this can result in not screen. 1. check to see if you have the memory sticks seated in their slots correctly. 2. remove the hard drive and re - insert it into the hard drive slot.

This can happen for several reasons :
1 - Multiple applications running in the backgroud (Antivirus / Spyware etc...)
2 - Internet activity, slowing the processor.
3 - Lack of space / Poor fragmented drive.
4 - Drivers may be corrupted
1 - Close any 'unwanted / redundant applications when playing with videos.
2 - Disconnect ethernet or wireless when creating videos.
3 - Make space on the Harddrive (you will need 'double' the space of the video, as atemprary version is normally created first - A 30minute video ideally will require a minimum of 500meg to 1gig of space just to start with.
4 - Re-install your web-cam drivers
The reason they told your daughter that is because either there isn't a powerful enough CPU and enough memory to support it and also there are no vista drivers for that laptop on Dell's website.
If you decide to put vista on that laptop your going to need to make sure that whatever hardware drivers vista doesn't detect, you'll need to search on the net to find vista compatible drivers if they are out there, it will be time consuming.
My recommendation from my own experience, make sure you have at least a 2GHz processor and 1GB or memory.
