Do you have another harddisk installed already if so, you need to change the jumper settings maybe both the hardisks are having the jumper positioned as master device. which u need to set ur OS or Operating software HDD to master and the second one as a slave.

Most, if not all external hard drived do not need a driver. Connect the drive and power, turn it on. There is no need to use the backup program that comes with the drive. Use Windows backup that comes with Windows 7.

There is a program you can purchase (or it is more than likely available as a torrent) which will diagnose and fix almost any Hard Drive problem.

You can't insert a Hard drive from another PC because when it was installed on the old PC it was setup to work with the hardware for that particular computer.

You will need to reinstall a fresh copy of windows on it to make it work with the new PC it's in.Boot from CD run windows setup, format the drive then do a fresh install.

This should fix the problem, if you have any new info or need further help with any of that post back. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

How can I delete Read Only files and/or folders on a used HD?

Follow the steps below :

1. Open Command prompt
2. Type cd \
3. Now type the drive letter this hard disk (f:) assuming f is your harddisk
4. Type attrib -h -r "Program Files"
5. Type attrib -h -r "Windows"

Now you can safely delete the folders.

Note : Ensure that you are doing this only to the hard disk from which you want to remove the folders. Improper usage might result in heavy data loss.

Is it possible to install 2nd 0/s on separate hard drive 40gb,id not sata attached via usb with laptop of dell inspiron 1525 c2d give steps to install

It depends what kind of SO do you want to install

I recommend you to user an USB Linux distro.

Anyway, normally when installing any SO lets you select the partition where you want to install the SO.
Select the partition belonging to the USB External HD, and do everything else normally.

You must have in mind that you will lose everything in the USB HD, and that using it this way the OS will work only when the HD is plugged to the same PC, it may work with a different PC with different hardware but the SO will install the new drivers for the new hardware.

That's why I recommend you to use linux, check this out www.pendrivelinux.com/
