    well i have given up.

i made 6 calls to EA.

They gave me several different solutions, all didnt work.

EA SAYS ITS MY COMPUTER, they even gave me the download of the sims 2, my computer wont accept it. Error message pops up.

EA techs say it has to do with my firewall, or needed updates to windows xp or install shield.

Thank u so much for ur cont support and ideas. u guys are great.

I will miss Sims 2 very much. I just have to get another comp when I get rich,,, lol

And with me being from the south and recovering from Hurricane Ike, it will be a while.

Hi teri,

try this

  1. put the disk in
  2. let it do its thing and tell you autorun is broken
  3. open up "My Computer"
  4. right click on the driver the sims cd is in
  5. on the drop down menu select explore
  6. when the cd directory comes up find the setup file and double click it.
  7. have fun playing sims.
If there is another error after this please mention it and ill help you get through it.

There is one more thing to try and this one depends on how bad you want to play the game. I have fixed this problem before and what we ended up doing was refromatting the hard drive. I know its extreme but the SIMS game leaves little traces of itself in your computer that must be gotten rid of before you can reinstall.
Why don't we just delete the files you ask? good question. you see there are literally thousands of little files that the uninstall does not get rid of and it would take a lot of time to do it that way.

With my other client we reformatted and bingo it worked just fine. I love playing the sims and the sims online but their install programs are just horrible and invasive.

Maybe this will help you a bit more.

thanks in advance and please don't forget to rate us it helps me do a better job.

How do I remove (uninstall) the sims 2, sims seasons and sims teen style stuff from my computer?

Hi akach564,
I saw your post wanting to uninstall The Sims 2 and the other Expansions that you have for it, since you did not mention what version of Windows you have I will be giving several way to remove The Sims2 and it's Expansions.
Win XP:
  • Click on Start, then click on Control Panel, in Control Panel look for Add Remove Programs.
  • In Add or Remove Programs it will be Alphabetically arranged look for The Sims or Sims2 and you should see the other Expansions underneath it , on the right side of The Sims2 and its Expansions you will see a button that will say change / remove.
  • Click on Change/Remove this will prompt you if you are sure you want to uninstall this program.
  • Just click on YES since we are uninstalling the program The Sims2.
  • Do the same for the Expansions of The Sims2 to uninstall them.
If the Sims2 and its Expansions are not located anywhere in the Add or Remove Programs then you will need to manually uninstall them one by one from the location where the folders of each is located C: or which ever location / folder you installed them.
In each folder of the Sims2 / Expansions you will need to click open each folder and look for the uninstall icon and double click on it to uninstall The Sims2 to the same for the Expansions of The Sims2 for uninstalaltion.
Win Vista / Win7:
  • Click on Start, then click on Control Panel, in Control Panel look for Programs it will say uninstall programs under it click on uninstall programs this will open Programs and Features.
  • In Programs and Features it will be Alphabetically arranged look for The Sims or Sims2 and you should see the other Expansions underneath it , on the right side of The Sims2 and its Expansions you will see a button that will say change / remove.
  • Click on Change/Remove this will prompt you if you are sure you want to uninstall this program.
  • Click on YES to Uninstall the Sims2 and do the same for the Sims2 Expansions program/game.
If the Sims2 and its Expansions are not located anywhere in the Add or Remove Programs then you will need to manually uninstall them one by one from the location where the folders of each is located C: or which ever location / folder you installed them.

I hope that this will be of help Uninstalling The Sims2 and it's Expansions game from your computer.
Have a nice day,

Hi my sims 2 night life isnt working i put in the disc 1 and it says please install the sims2 installer before this producte

You will have to uninstall and reinstall SIMS 2. It thinks you are either running on a cracked version of the original game or do not have the original installed; so it won't allow you to install the expansion.

Sims2 Bon Voyage Disc 1- "Backup" problem?

If it doesn't recognise it there probably is a scratch or something like that on it, or you have disk emulator softwarelike Daemon Tools running, which causes games to block. Try closing the emulator software. If you don't have any running, you could try using a crack for the game. A crack is a copy of the game launcher that does not look for the CD when it starts. GO to one of tese sites: gf.wiretarget.com www.gamecopyworld.com and download a "fixed exe" for your version of the game. It is advisable to update your game to the latest version, and then download the late version crack. To open the file the crack is in, you will need a program called 7zip. jJust google it and download it, it's free and perfectly safe. Once you have the crack, overwrite the file of the same name in your Sims folder, and the game should run properly from now. I hope this helps, Yannick.

Error message when installed Sims2 Open for business

Ha, I kept searching and I found out that it just wants the newest expansion of The Sims 2...so if you have Pets, and install Open for Business - then insert the Pets cd, and run Pets - and it should have Open for Business as well.

Another solution was to uninstall Pets (or whatever version you have) and install Open for Business, and then reinstall Pets (or whatever)...this will lose all your saved sims and houses but I'm guessing it's better than nothing.

You need to start the latest version the older one won't start the game. In this case you need to start the game with the Sims2 Kitchen and Bath SP starter file.

Use restore point and go back to before SP3. Wait a couple of weeks and download it again. They should have the bugs out by then.
