Question about Tivoli iPAL AM/FM Radio

1 Answer

Battery won't charge

My PAL won't work anymore unless plugged in. It doesn't appear that the battery is charging. We leave it plugged in for a while, but then, when we try to use it without the power chord, it won't turn on.

Re: Battery won't charge

This is what you should do: charge it.. then when it's still connected to the power switch it on.. then you can remove the power plug and enjoy it for hours...

I know it's weird...

Dewalt radio dc 010 will not charge

Check the voltage from the charger, check the socket which it plugs into for fractures and dry joints on the circuit board. Those are the most likely failure points. Have you tried moving the plug around to see if it's a bad connection?

I thought the battery went dead so I bought a new one. It only played for a little over two hours and did not work even when it appeared to be recharged. I assumed it was a bad battery so I returned it....

No! this is clearly a manufacture defect and I would return it, even if the battery failed the AC plug in would work, since you are having trouble with both sides the problem is in the actual radio.

Does the battery charge with the power off? or does it have to be on am or fm

Most units like this will not charge the battery because if the owner installs the wrong type of batteries it becomes a fire hazard.

My lantern/fan/radio doesn't work when its not plugged in?

The battery probably isn't taking a charge anymore because it needs to be replaced. These batteries will sometimes last a few years but then a replacement is needed and they will likely run like new. You can check out to find a replacement battery, or you can call 1-877-28-BATTERY if you are having difficulting finding the battery you need.

Will not work on battery

Try removing the battery cover and remove and disconnect the battery.
Reconnect the battery and replace the battery cover.
Now, plug the radio into the wall electrical outlet and wait, the blue light on the radio top should start flash and will flash for about 10 minutes and then stop flashing.
Leave the radio plugged in for about 16 to 24 hours to completely charge the battery. For the first three or four times, completely drain the battery and completely recharge for 16 to 24 hours, this will condition the battery .... mine works like a dream. GR
