The lens needs to be taken apart cleaned and lubricated, overtime they build up dirt and grime causing the gears to become stiff, the only solution is dismantle the lens and clean it until spotless. If a camera specialtist gets in involved it will be expensive.

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare camera turns on and off

Hi, here is whats going on, if your M763 is powering on for 2 secs and the lense opens up then go's right back in, there is a 90% chance you got sand in the unit from say the beach ?

here is a test , when you press the power buttion watch the lense you will notice that the bigger part rotates as it comes out, what you want to do is give it a little help Lightly rotate it abit more just at the point where it normaly stops and go's back in, the cam will prob stay on and work like normal.

now the hard part 2 things to try, a can of AIR from walmarts try to blow out and sand thats around the rings, i did this and have fixed about 20 of these's now, on the others you will need to take it apart and clean the gears and mech of the lense housing then put it all back together.

hope this helps

My kodak m1033 camera won't focus, it tries to, and I can hear like gears moving while it tries to focus, but nothing- still blurry

You don't say anything about light conditions, target color, definition, contrast, and the many other things that can cause this.

Is your camera at fault? Maybe.

Take a look in these sites and many others like.

It seems to be focusing, but the pictures are blurry - lens is clean, same issue when auto focusing or manual focusing. Doesn't seem to make a difference if I hold the shutter down only halfway to give it...

Please make sure that you're using fully charged battery pack.
Remove the battery and reinsert after 1 minute.
Reset the camera by following the reset procedure from the manual of the Camera.
If the issue persists again, service is required

Kodak easyshare c743 autofocus problem

If you are using the "auto" option for taking photos, while this is happening, try either the "flower" for extreme closeups or the "mountain" for distant. With the "flower", I can get about 5-6 inches away from the lens. To get a good focus, have some good contrast on your subject.
