Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player

1 Answer

Sony BluRay won't play back disk

Our company creates content, then burns our content to a Blu Ray disk to playback on Plasmas and LCDs at conventions. We can playback disks we create on Panasonic BluRays, but not Sony. What is the reason for this and how do we fix it? Otherwise, our customers can only use Panasonic players.

The Sony just won't playback the BRAND of your dvds. Panasonic and even few other brands dvd players are able to playbacks these OEM dvds. Not much you could do.

I have installed a blue ray writer into mu desktop pc an windows can;t read blueray disks

Hi

You don't say which version of windows you're using or whether the bluray disks you are testing are factory made or created by you.

Playing back any video recorded on media like CDs DVDs or Blu Ray discs requires a video decoder (a program such as PowerDVD or Win DVD). Windows alone cannot do the job.

Burning Bluray disks requires both special blu ray discs and burning software such as Nero. Windows alone cannot do the job

Your Sony Bluray RW should have come with (a) CD(s) to install the Blu ray versions of a Video Decoder and burning softwares and also possibly some Sony programs too.

Install these and then you should be able to watch and burn bluray discs to your heart's content.

Hope this helps.

Will not play blueray discs on blueray player

Windows by default does not instantly play back anything but mpegs and wmvs, and streaming content. To playback DVDs, you need a software such as Power DVD, or WinDVD. ATi users can use ATI MMC, Nvida users can use NVDVD. Sony also proides thier own proprietary DVD playback suite on their Laptops.

Basicaly Windows needs sofware to playback Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. You can't expect to pop in a Disk and hope it magically plays, this is MSFT we are talking about. If wanted instant play back, you should have got a Mac.

The manual that came with your Laptop will have a more indepth description on the software you have. You may have a Blu-Ray playback software, or you may only have a Blu-Ray burning software included in your package.

If you don't have a playback software, then you must find one. Google it.

Another thing is region. If you so happend to have ordered a Laptop from the US, the Drive is designed for US and Japan region code. If it's like DVD+/-RW drives, then it should alow you to change regions, however you can only do so 3 times then your stuck. Set it to PAL region. The best way to learn how to do that is to do a search on the web.

Won't play new blue ray disk

Will your machine play standard movie DVD discs? if it does then the laser pickup assembly is the problem. The blue ray discs require a higher precision tracking to offer better resolution.

How to play region A blu ray discs on region c Blu ray player. i have bought this player in India but would like to play BD discs got for USA, and the player does not plays such disc.

The Player will not play the Blu-ray discs other than Region C.
This is because all the Blu-ray/DVD Players are designed such way that it will play only the discs that are manufactured and sold in the same country where the Player is manufactured.

You can play the discs that are "Region ALL".

However, you may try copying the content of the Region A/B Blu-ray discs to a Computer then create a video Blu-ray disc to check whether you can play them in the BDPS370.

My Magnavox bluray disc player NB500MG9 will not play bluray dvds. Please help

My Blu-Ray will not play x disc
A Blu-ray player can play DVD or CD and still not play Blu-ray. It may play Blu-ray but not CD or DVD, or burned discs. This is all caused by the 'optical' a part that reads the disc in the machine. Your player will need service as a Blu-ray optic cannot just be 'dropped' into a player.

Is there a way to compress a 50Gb Blu-ray disk to a 25Gb Blu-ray disk(R or RE) without compromising too much quality?

For all DVD-Video and Blu-Ray backups or you existing Video Media I recommend using AnyDVD from Slysoft you can compress all Blu-Ray using this it will break the CSS and Region code you need to use another to re-encode the video.

I use Elaboratebytes CloneDVD to create an ISO image then use the excellent ImageBurn from Lightning to burn using VSO Patin-Couffin v1.37 Access Layer Driver for the best results.

You will need to select this after install in the I/O section

Sony BluRaywon't play back disk

That is one of the problem with manufacturers that don't clearly explain the consumers that most of the blue ray dvd player is designed to play blue ray dvds &regular dvds, but it wasn't never designed to back any DVD-R or DVD-RW.
Sorry, there is no way around it,because Sony enjoyed being exclusive in many things.

Are you tryign to play back hoem made / burnt discs? If so the format more then likely is NOT compatibe with the bluray disc player....This is very common...You must rememeber bluray just came out and right now you have to expect it to only play conventional DVD's and blue disc's any other format is most likely not compatible
