if I am correct, your unit came with two speakers and a subwoofer correct?
if so, do you have the speaker system connected to the DVD player?

  • Mike H. Nov 12, 2008

    Ok, thanks, '

You forget to give me one more information "What is the model of the DVD player and the Television." I need the television model number.

The problem seems to come from, if you have the yellow wire connected to the Televesion, you have to make sure that the red and white wire is connected to the same input line as the yellow wire.

  • Mike H. Nov 12, 2008

Ok so you have sound from the television and want the sound coming from the subwoofer speaker system as well. Well that is very easy. You will need to buy an a audio splitter. see image below

and a audio cable, that consist of the red and white cable.">

The splitter will be connected from the red and white cable from from the DVD player. DVD player.
And the Audio cables will use one of the splitter connection for the TV and for the Subwoofer.

How do i get the external audio output to work?

First make sure that your TV has an audio OUT. Most do not. If you do then you can plug into that but you will have to go into the menu on the TV under audio and turn on the external speaker feature. If you do not have an audio OUT then you will have to hook you speaker to the audio OUT of your home stereo system and hook the source output to the input of your stereo. Source being (dvd, cable box). In that case you need to turn off the internal speakers on the TV and just run it through your home stereo system.

I have a magnavox 32mf605w/17 flat screen TV my sound us not working is there any way to hook up external speakers to it?

Hi Lisa,
Many a times the speakers in flat panel TVs go bad. You either change the speakers or hook your tv to some sound system like a home theater or some music system in your house. There is AV out sockets at the back of the TV. Out of the three ie. yellow, red and white use red and white to connect to the music system, put the system on auxiliary mode and enjoy the sound of your tv. Good luck.

Trying to connect a sony home theatre system so that the akai television plays through the home teatre speakers. I used an hdmi cable, but the tv still only plays threough the tv.

The HDMI jacks on the TV are HDMI in. Thus to get the theater system to play the sound, you use the HDMI out from your set top box to the HDMI in of the Sony theater system and then the HDMI out of the theater system to the TV. (Connecting the HDMI in of the TV to the HDMI in of the home theater system will not work.)

If you are watching OTA TV or a direct coax cable connection, you need to hook up the TV audio out to the home theater system audio in to use these speakers with the TV. Then you probably need to set the TV to use the external speakers. This will probably be in the Menu under Audio. (Toggle external speakers on/off)

The Akai LCT2785TA has RCA audio out (1/4" red and white jacks). If your home theater system has RCA audio in, just get a patch cable (MM ends on each side of the cable). If your home theater system only has digital audio inputs, you will need a converter. is a link to one appropriate converter.

I hope this helps.

Can i connect this tv to external speakers

Look on the back of your unit, if you can hook this up to external speakers you will see one or more Audio OUT ports. Usually TV's have these audio out ports for Home Theater systems.

Hope that helps!

Hi i have an LG 42PQ3000 i want to know if i can hook up external speakers to it as the is not setting on the menu i can find

Most new televisions will not allow to just hook up a speaker to them. You find Coaxial or optic audio outputs. These can only be hooked yup to a compatible external home theater system or soundbar. Most manufacturers today make wonderfull aftermarklet audio systems to help you enjoy the audio portion of a broadcast better. The amplifier in most new flat screens is not 10 watts, so driving an external speaker is out of the question. YOU WILL DAMAGE THE TV!

Howdy, If you want good sound from a Coby TV you need external speakers. Coby is one of the lowest end producers of televisions and are notorious for poor sound. Good news is that for what you saved by buying a coby, you are still ahead after buying external speakers and amp (often called home theater system, some have built in DVD player). That's the scoop on Coby. hope this helps some.

How do you hook speakers up to the tv with a

All the Vizio flat-panels I've seen have ext. line outs to run into home theater/ stereo systems, not all have the external speaker jacks. Either use powered speakers or run through an amplifier. The cable has nothing to do with the audio.

Hi there,

You need to select the source of your home theater system. Press <SOURCE> on the home theater remote to switch between DVD, TUNER, and LINE modes. Select LINE, then you should now hear audio from your TV, Please make sure that your TV is not muted, just increase the volume until you hear audio on home theater. Also increase the volume of your home theater.
