Faulty I should say, becaue you can repair it. Just replace the Buldgy capacitors. you'll need a soldering iron, soldering lead and a ****** to desolder the components terminals. Remember replace the caps with only the specific values indicated on them and also when replacing them see how you removed them is how you'll replace them and solder them back, if you not sure to do it yourself then provide the Capacitors and asked a friend who can do it for you. But if you think you can afford a new powersupply unit, thats fine.

The 250series has been replaced with 300 or higher models. They had to much trouble with those.
However when I repaired the 250's not had any problems. One has worked two aditional years running 24/7

Does your motherboard have a beeper? Does it emit any distinguished beeps?
First, to locate the problem, try to boot your system with only a bare minimum of components: motherboard, cpu, ram, videocard. Try your system with a known to be good power supply. Then, if possible, try it with other known to be good components. If possible, check power supply with a psu tester or multimeter (that takes some time). Every bit of description of system behaviour will be helpful.

Power supply led blinks but will not power up

My gateway was powered up and I came back into the room and it was not. It would not turn on so I checked the power supply with the paper clip jump method (which is the only thing I know how to do) and the green light along with the fan turns on. While it is plugged into the pc, it blinks with no fan running. The power supply is an ATX 300-12EB3. The Gateway is 556GE. Thank you for any help I can get on this.

My power supply is blinking green light and my PC has no power

plug your pc directly to your wall outlet and see if it turns on. If it works, then the problem is your power supply. If power supply has a reset button, press it and try again. If pc does not turn on when plugged to wall outlet, then power supply for pc may be out.

Dell dimension 2400 blinking amber light

1. Remove All External Devices
2. Check the Computer's Power LED
3. If the power LED has not changed unplug the Power Cable From the Computer Disconnect All Hard Drive Power and Data Cables and power on the computer. If still no go.
4. Remove All PCI, PCI-E, and AGP Expansion Cards .
5. Remove All Memory From the Computer
6. Reseat the ATX and 12-Volt Connections . The ATX connector will be a 4 pin square connector connecting to the motherboard from the power supply and the 12-Volt Connection would be the biggest connector with a lot of colored wires.
7. If still no go.
8. Disconnect the Power Connection to the Chassis Fan
9. If the light still flashes then it could be a power supply or motherboard failure. Try a good know power supply first and if that does not fix the problem it is the motherboard. Also check the back of the tower for 4 lights lables ABCD or 1234.
Rate if useful.

Sounds like a bad power supply. Although first I would check it over by unplugging Every Card, Hard Drive, even Memory, (mainly anything that is connected into the Motherboard), One at a time usually is best, as you may find a faulty card, or bus, run the Motherboard strictly off the Power Supply, If it then seems to run correctly, try pluggin just One thing back in at a time, (memory, then Hard Drive(s), then cards, Video-LAN-Modem-Sound/etc.

This should give you a good feel for what/or where about your system is failing.. Good luck, A good standard size Power Supply Unit nowadays is about 600W+, a lot of systems we get from the stores, or online will come with just 400W+,.

Again, Good Luck, and Happy Holidays!
Let me know how this works for you.
