Using a shop vac (wet/dry model) dirt blows while vacuuming

As I vacuum (which is still working strongly0 the dirt instead of being contained within the vacuum is blowing out both sides from the top where it sits on the bottom canister

SOURCE: emptying the water from the Shop Vac 925-13 Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

Stand in front of the vaccuum with the lable facing you, the 2 release levers are on the left and right sides, attached to the motor housing, which sits atop the tank/canister. Pull out and up on the levers, twist counter-clockwise, lift straight up and the motor housing will follow, leaving the tank/canister on the floor.

SOURCE: Dirt gets caught up in filter instead of in removable container

That is the problem with the bagless cleaners. The dirt goes through the cup, directly to the filter. There is nothing to keep them seperate. You can try putting a single layer of paper towel against the filter. It will provide a breathable barrier for the dirt but, it will clog too.

I have a Delonghi Multi Vac M31 and have never used the wet part...I would like to clean my carpet using the wet vacuum...can you please tell me how I can do this? Many thanks

A good place to start is the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can google the make and model of your multi-vac to get another copy.

Most wet-vacs work off the same principle. Pre-vacuum the carpet to make sure there is not normal surface dirt and dust. Next Squirt on hot soapy water, scrub it in - then suck up the dirt and collect the dirty water.

So after vacuuming the area to be wet-vacuumed and you are lucky enough to have a separate reservoir on the wet-vac unit - add pre-mixed carpet cleaner into hot tap water (with carpet cleaner mixed into it by the ratios described on the carpet cleaner soap bottle) to the multi-vac water reservoir (from a quick look, the Delonghi doesn't have one) . With the settings for wet vac (per the owners manual), squeeze the trigger for applying the carpet cleaner. Typically, you will go slower than normal vacuuming. Give it a chance to soak in and dissolve/lift the grim and dirt. Come back slowly to pull the dirty water out of the carpet.

There are multi-wet vacs (like the M31) that don't have a reservoir for the carpet cleaner. In that case, you need to pre-mix a couple of gallons of carpet clean in a separate container or bucket. Next spray or sprinkle carpet cleaner onto/into the carpet. Try to scrub the cleaner into the carpet to really get at the dirt and lift it. Next is to vacuum up the wet stuff.

Some carpet cleaners do not contain an anti-foaming agent. I recommend you either add an anti-foaming agent or buy a carpet clean product that already contains it - otherwise, it tends to be a big mess that takes a lot more time.

I hope these tips help.

Can u wash the paper filter on a wet dry vac

You really cannot wash the paper filter. You can blow it out with an air hose if you have access to one, or vacuum it off with another vacuum. If it does get wet you should let it dry outside of the vacuum before you use it again.

Do I take off the dry bag and the fome cover when picking up moisture ???

dont know what model you have, but, as a rule, the dry bag is for dry vacuuming and the foam is for wet vacuuming.

Vacuuming up water with Shop Vac model 84M200

when picking up dry materials use the foam sleeve that slips on and the blue cloth (assuming there all blue) over it, there should be a ring that slides over blue cloth to hold it in place over the foam sleeve, for wet pick up u can use the foam sleeve minus the blue cloth but let it dry out before picking up dry stuff, you can pick up both wet and dry with a cartrige filter that looks simular to a car air filter and it slips over the foam sleeve, but let it dry out after picking up water before picking up dry cause itll just clog it up

Dry/Wet vac is blowing instead of vaccuum

Check to see if the plastic ball is stuck . There should be a ball under the motor , make sure it moves freely. Make sure your vacum lines are not plugged . Best of luck Ed.

Shop Vac

You **** up water the same way as dirt. It's designed this way, hence the name wet/dry. Just be sure not to get the water in the very top of the unit where the motor sucks the air for cooling ventilation, if water gets in there it can burn up the motor. A little hard way, personal experience, speaking there.

Just be sure to remove the paper filter bag that fits over the foam filter before vacuuming liquids. It's easy to get it wet and they don't work very well when that happens.
