ECS 761GX-M754(V3.0A) Motherboard, No Graphics Acceleration in Xp

Hi, I've been running a 761GX-M754(V3.0A) mobo with the latest BIOS update and was previously running an Asus 8500GT Silent card in the PCI-E slot. With a nice 500Watt PSU everything was running well but I was looking for an upgrade, so I opted for an Asus ATI 3850 HD card. I was currently running a dual-boot system (Windows XP Pro SP3 and Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1) and when I booted in the XP and installed the latest drivers there was practically no video accleration. Games like COD4, Crysis, FEAR and HL2 ran choppy even with setting toned down to a bare minimum. However in Vista things ran as expected. I also experienced the same issue with an ATI 2600 HD card. What gives? I installed everything properly, latest BIOS, latest DX, why does my new card only work as it should in Vista?

Were the correct drivers installed into XP.

When running XP I installed the latest 8-10 drivers for Windows XP 32-bit, then even tried the older ones that came in the disc. Same result each time, no improvement.

I was given a used ECS computer running Windows XP, it has an existing password that I do not know. I would like to reset it to original factory settings if possible. The motherboard is 761GX-M754 V: 1.0

To reset the bios password: Remove the cmos battery for about 5 minutes, replace & reboot. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

ECS 761GX-M754 Problem

Hey there freemantle78, there are many thing to check over. My first step would be to check all your ram to ensure you are using the correct type. In this case DDR-400/333/266/200 single sided only. Also ensure if you just have just one stick, that it is in the dimm closest to the CPU. Remove it and reseat it, ensuring you get the clicks and the levers on both sides to come up on their own when seating. My next step would be to ensure your monitor is connected to the onboard video port, and not a video card, which you will need to enable in the bios setup later, along with installing drivers. Also ensure the connections made to the motherboard via the power supply, and the frontpanel controls are correctly configured. Consult your mobo manual for details I hope this helps.Good Luck!
