To secure the network you have to connect the computer directly to the router via an ethernet cable, open a web page (it will be blank ) and type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar at the top of the web page, it should let you in to the router, most default passwords to routers are "admin" & "admin" or "Admin" & admin", once in you can set your own SSID name (network name) and passwork (network key)
hope this helps
kind regards

Follow my lead - we're going to do this one step at a time
>do you have windows ? XP (green Start button) or the new VISTA (Black Orb start button)
>your Belkin, is it a router / device that has antennas where you get your Internet connection?

Hi there, Please tell us the model of your equipment so I can help better and simply :)

You have the WEP written down you need to set it up on your PC. Go to
MY NETWORK PLACES from desktop or start menu. On the right menu select
set up a wireless network for home or small office. You will be asked
to provide your SSID - the name your router appears as by default this
is belkin54g Next select manually assign network key. Type
in the key that you wrote down, and click next from here you will want
to set up each computer manually, just so you don't go through the USB
process.
YOu should now reconnect the the secure network.
Next you'll want to turn on MAC filtering, you'll do this by first
making sure you know your MAC address, from your computer click start,
and click run. from the run dialog box type "cmd" this will open a
command window. from there type. IPCONFIG /all. This will list all your
settings find your physical address, it should look like XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
if you have more than one card in your PC, wireless and wired, your
probably safe writing them both down.
Go back to the router settings and find firewall settings and look
for MAC filtering. Before enabling MAC filtering enter all necessary
MAC Address and add them. Then check Enable MAC filtering and then
apply settings.

You need to put inhttp://192.168.1.1 ORhttp://192.168.0.1 Please read the user manual that comes with your router, it may be on the cd. Read the user manual and follow the suggestions on the video and you have everything you need.
You might want to get a friend to come over and set it up if you can't figure it out.
