Repair is quite difficult in this case.

You need to take apart the cse,
remove several internal parts to access and then to remove the board.
Then you do a precision soldering job on the board and re assemble everything together.
You must have done a similar job before, before attempting a repair on the motherboard.

    Alternative solutions:

Call the phone number listed on the user manual and ask Fuji the cost of a warranty extension, this will cost less than a single repair job, and will cover the camera repairs and spares for one year.

Can i charge a finepix J10 off my laptop?

Most cameras will not charge off the usb port. Some very small "spy" type cams will. You can try, either it will charge, or it won't. Most cameras use their own power when hooked to the usb port, for the purpose of transferring pictures and movies to the computer.

Finepix j10 screen dosnt turn on

I had exactly the same problem with a Fuji J10 last week. The camera would turn on, take pictures ok, but the screen was blank. Not even the icons showed or playback previous photo's.
The problem turned out to be a damaged usb port. All the pins were bent and touching each other as well as the shell of the usb port which should be earthed to the board.

The usb port has been damaged on my camera. can i replace it. where can i obtain parts.

if the port is damaged it requires a whole new board as it connects directly to the voard via soldered pins. Component repair on these cameras is not done. I might add that the repairay cost more than a new camera, or close to it

Can I charge the battery in Fuji FinePix J10 with my PC?

Nope. Gotta use the supplied external charger. Won't charge via USB, if that's what you are hoping.

Fuji j10 - my mac wont recognise it even using finepix

I had the same problem with my camera & mac.  I got this off the Fuji site and it worked for me:
If images cannot be downloaded from the camera to a Macintosh, check the status of the camera and the Macintosh and resolve the problem accordingly.

1) Check the status of the camera and Macintosh.
1. Connect your camera to the Macintosh and turn the camera on.
2. Open the "Applications" folder on the Macintosh HD.
3. Double-click "Image Capture".
* If the "Imaging device not connected" message appears, follow the steps described in [Checking the connection between the camera and PC].
4. Select "Preferences" from the "Image Capture" menu.
5. The procedure for using the Image Capture Preferences window differs depending on the OS version used. Use the correct procedure for your version of Mac OS.
- Mac OS 10.4: Click "General" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.3: Click "Camera" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.2: Simply proceed to the next step.
6. In "Items launched at camera connection", select "FPVBridge" and then click the [OK] button.
* If FPVBridge is not among the displayed items, follow the steps in [Displaying FPVBridge] below.
7. Quit "Image Capture".

If you implement the above procedure up to step 6, FinePix Viewer launches automatically.
* To stop FinePix Viewer from launching automatically, follow the steps in [FinePix Viewer Setup] below.
