No the drivers for win98 will not get installed in win7 or win vista... You can try to download and install the latest drivers if available in the support site of your Mp3 player...

It is not recognized by the computer

No. According to page 4 of the manual, it works with Windows 98/SE, Windows Me, and Windows 2000/XP. If you're running something other than Win98/SE then you don't need the driver.

I can not get my yp-t8 to download to my pc my pc is xp home and the driver that ihave is win 98

If the driver you mention is only for Win98, it is of no use in XP.

For the YP-T8 there are 3 model players, that might need different driver, software and firmware (under OS there's a listing for the supported Operating Systems).
Select your model on next page:
Next select the matching driver, software for your computer.
Download and install the driver and software.

Also look under firmware, to see if there are updates for the player.

Player will not register plugged to pc but light comes on player

Try unplugging the player, rebooting the computer and then plugging the device back in. If that doesn't work see if your player has different modes for the USB connection and make sure to change it to storage device. That will allow it to mount as a drive viewable in Windows(assuming this is Windows). If this is a version of Windows prior to XP you may need a device driver to make the player work. If this is Linux or a MAC most likely you will need a device driver of some sort.

Drivers for Multimedia Player

Ignore the disc that comes with the player.
If using windows media player I simply ripped the tracks off the cd into mp3 to get them into the windows media library then synched the tracks to the player.
When you connect the USB cord between the computer and the player, windows media player will recognise it and show it in the left side bar.
Click on the mp3 player icon and then synch the tracks into the plyer list to import to the player (right side bar) I simply synch them all then remove the ones I dont want or drag and drop the mp3s from my media library into the player list to be synched.
Ignore totally the disc that comes with the player it is not required I think its only for 98 users to make it work it is not required with XP or Vista simply upload tracks to the player using a media player such as windows or real player.
So rip mp3s from the cd you want ....
When in mp3 mode (ignore if already mp3 on your pc) click the player icon when connected to the pc with the USB cable then select synch.

Driver that came with me mp3/mp4 says,'manual driver for Win98/ME.' Am I suppose to use this with my win XP?

You will not need drivers if you are using Windows XP. Plug the unit in and turn it on and Windows will recognize it as another "drive". You can then drag and drop the mp3 files from your computer into this new "drive". Disconnect from the computer and voila - you should be able to listen to them :)
