Enlarge photo from a scanned photo?

Hi, What printer are you using? Do you have a user manual for it?
I use an HP Photosmart Pro B8330 printer which I have set up to print in a number of qualities and formats. They appear as four separate HP printers on my computer in addition to the other printers shown there in the drop down menu (interestingly the Bolt PDF printer shown is a most useful free down loadable one from it allows me to print documents and pictures into PDF format).
When I select a picture on my desk top by right clicking it, then select print, I get a window as shown in the attached pictures with a drop down menu which allows me to select the printer I wish to use. Having selected the printer with the format I wish to use I am given quite a number of printing options from full page to 35 pictures per sheet. Most printers come with appropriate software which should give you similar options.

Reset printer

On your printer, go to the settings menu -> factory defaults.

Do not restore - this is the factory default setting. Do not restore keeps the user defined settings.

Restore - returns all printer settings to the factory default settings except the Network/Ports menu settings. All downloads stored in RAM are deleted.

The scanner warms up and goes through its process but does not transfer picture to screen - comes through a blank white page and then the screen turns black reinstalled the driver and rebooted the computer...

Most of the scanner software has options to set the scan area. Yours MAY have got set to a tiny area outside the thing you are scanning. So check the options including the scanning resolution. Reinstalling the I/O driver is useless. Re-installing the scanning software itself MIGHT restore the resolution to defaults. If there is a way to restore defaults, try that.
SOMETIMES re-installing software remembers your old settings, which could be the problem to start with.

I want to increase the size of the small drawings i do from my epson 1250 scanner to my canon 1800ip to a4 printout size is this possible.

You have to scan the pictures with a higher resolution to be able to print them in a larger format with acceptable quality.

If your default scanning setting is, say, 150dpi resolution, and you want the picture to be enlarged twofold, then you have to increase the resolution to 300dpi. If you have 300dpi now, increase it to 600dpi.
Some scanner utilities do a fully automatic scan - then you have to find the automatic scan settings and change the default resolution. Or better yet, find an option for a non-automatic scan, where you are presented with various options after the preview scan has been done. There you can usually set the desired size, resolution, improve contrast, sharpness etc.

Generally, the higher the scanning resolution, the more detail you have on the picture, and the higher magnification you can obtain when printing without quality loss.

But there's a catch - a picture in higher resolution produces a bigger file on disk - the file size grows faster then the resolution - a two times bigger picture will be four times bigger on disk. So you have to make sensible choice.

How to enlarge a picture when scanning on a HP F2210

The bigger you are going to want to print the final picture the higher the resolution you will want. So set it on the highest resolution then you will be able to make the picture however big you want in your photo-editing software.

Printing an enlarged version of a scanned photo

The best way is to use software like Corel PhotoPaint and RESAMPLE the pix to the sze you want. YOu typically will get better resolution.

You could also try selecting the "Fit To Page" setting of the printer window before you tell it to print.

Have Lexmark 5600 series all-in-one. Can't get it to enlarg pictures by copy or scan. Help . Tried everything in the productive suite.

In regards to Lexmark 5600 series all-in-one printer not being able to enlarge photos. I had been trying to use computer programs from the installation disk. Forget that and simply use controls on printer itself. Just use the copy button and set paper size. That easy. Thanks for your help.

The best,

go into the menu settings of your printer, you will need to reset your unit back to factory defaults. This will restore the scan size to standards. You have some how changed your settings in your resolutuin to enlarge. See if this fixes your problem and let me know.
