Your motherboard battery ,ay be run down. In order to replace it: UNPLUG your computer, ground yourself with a static prevention wrist connector or keep one hand touching the metal of the case. Open the case and find the small watch type battery in a holder on the Motherboard. CAREFULLY remove it, get the numbers and replace it with a new battery. This may take care of your problem.

Boot the pc and press F2 to enter the bios, check under drives to see if it is listed, if not showing here then the drive is dead and needs replacing.

How to put your name on Web browser's title bar ?

We can put our name or desired text on Web browser's title bar.

it will be go through using registry editor. but, you have to take backup for registry before doing this.

otherwise, you no need to worry about this simple method.

Operating system: Windows XP Professional

Example browser on: Internet explorer

go to start -> run -> regedit ->

try to search for this below key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\MAIN \

here, you will see an option "window title" in the right side page.

or you can just create a string value in the right side by using right click on the mouse.

you can also change the start page of browser like google.com

just edit on the start page in the right side page.

thanks,

I have two questions for Milton if possible:both on computer glitches, two different computers

For the Optiplex:
Did you buy the exact same motherboard for the Optiplex? When you put the CPU in the motherboard, did you apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heatsink? If not, that is like metal touching metal and it will short out or get hot and shut off. I don't think it's your drive. When the Thermal Paste around the CPU and HeatSink has dried up or is too thin to keep the unit cool it will run hot and shut off.

LOL, I hate Vista too, and Windows 7 is just a tab bit better, so now they will be forcing Windows 8 on the general public in the coming months. Very few companies, government entities, school systems, etc. bought into Vista or Windows 7 and nobody but consumers buying computers at retail store will buy into Windows 8 unless it is as good as Windows XP.

For the Acer Desktop if you are using Outlook as your email client then Internet Explorer might be having an issue. One common fix was to install Mozilla Firefox, Opera & Google Chrome internet browsers. When you install Mozilla Firefox set it as the default browser, you can always go back and start Internet Explorer and set it back as your default browser. Then try opening your emails and clicking the links and try your usb flash drive.

Try downloading Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome. Unlike Internet Explorer they install in less than 5 minutes and they are faster and safer than Internet Explorer.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "Download Mozilla Firefox" (without the quotes). Download and Install Mozilla Firefox from Mozilla's website. Do the same thing for Opera and Google Chrome.

I've put the links of each one below so if you like you can just click on them to go to their site to do the download and install.

www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

http://www.opera.com/download/

https://www.google.com/chrome

For the Acer, try turning off User Account Control if installing the other browsers above did not solve the issue.

Below is a link that will show you how to do it.

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".
    disable_uac_3.gif
  3. Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account.
  4. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.
    disable_uac_4.gif
  5. Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.
    disable_uac_5.gif
  6. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.
    disable_uac_6.gif
  7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.
    disable_uac_7.gif
In order to re-enable UAC just select the above checkbox and reboot.

How do i turn computer back to yesterday

If System Restore has been turned on you can restore it back to the last restore point. May not be yesterday but you can go back. Here is exactly how curtorsey of Microsoft: To use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then clickSystem Restore. System Restore starts.
  3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.

Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
  5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
  6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed.
  7. Click OK.

My computer keeps restarting why??

HI, your system has contracted a nasty virus that has destroyed a vital system 32 file that is needed for stability. You will have to preform a restoration to bring back stability and continuity. A good way to do this is to use the system restore disk that should have been delivered along with this unit. if you don't have this disk, you can use a Windows Xp install disk as well. be sure to wipe the partitions and reformat the drive to rid the system of this horrid virus attack.

Windows XP Home Edition on HP Pavilion a367c

Are you able to successfully enter Safe Mode? Are you getting a brief blue screen before the computer restarts?

A possible solution (if you can't get into Safe Mode to further diagnose the issue) is to repair the Windows installation with a Windows XP Home CD. If you know someone with such a disk you can use that with the product key that should be on a sticker on the back of your computer. Otherwise, HP should be able to send you an XP CD since you have an authorized copy of Windows on your computer.
