Question about PC Desktops

It is very difficult to get my Huawei HG520s modem to connect to talk talk broadband. i have tried all the configerations suggested by talk talk and no matter which filter is used or how many filters or how many times i reboot or switch off the power or disconnect all the leads or change the leads or even disconnect both extension sockets, it just doesn't make any difference. If it does connect then the download spead is usually only 200 to 300kbits. Whenever a phone call is made or received it drops the connection. However, whilst connected on the phone the modem connects to the internet with ease and the connection speed is 1.5 to 2.5Mbits but once the call has ended it is back to square 1. Can you help please talk talk are being very unhelpful and after almost 2 months and countless hours on the phone to them i am running out of patience

Must be your inside wirings. if you have a microfilter make sure you properly connect it. your modem suppose to be connected to your microfilter and your telephone line suppose to be connect on a different wall jack .
if your using a spliter to connect you phone and internet connection make sure splitter is connect properly to wall jack then the first line is for yor microfilter to your modem then the other line is for you phone line only.

Suggest you contact your internet provider and see if there is some problem on their end. Also ask if you have exceeded their data plan of usage.
For example my Straight Talk phone plan states unlimited data, text and internet access, however in fine print I only have 2GB's of data.
Hardly 'unlimited' wouldn't you say?

It makes it so for example, that only so many videos can be watched on Youtube, etc.
Once the 2GB limit is reached that's it folks!

Hi,

Can you supply more detail of your network setup? You have a broadband modem, a seperate router and the PC.

For this setup cabling should be ....

1. Phone Socket (Pref. Master socket) to ADSL socket on modem

2. Modem LAN socket to Router WAN socket

3. Router LAN socket to PC Ethernet socket

Usually in this configuration you will have to switch off DHCP on either the modem or the router as they may both be trying to supply IP addresses to your PC. I would suggest disabling DHCP on the router and leaving the ADSL modem to supply IP addresses. If you do this you will have to setup the Router with a valid fixed IP.

Have fun!

Cheers,
Ripface.

Can't locate a Modem connection

Ok, First off, Yes, if you have a plug in the back of your computer that allows a standard phone connection wire from computer to the wall, that usually means you have a modem. If you have the ability to get Broadband internet, my suggestion is to get that instead. Its more reliable and doesnt have an automatic disconnect feature that AOL has always had. Also, if you already have broadband, then you can connect with AOL directly through the broadband connection and skip the Modem use entirely. Best i can tell you, other than if your computer is not finding the modem, that means its been either disabled or is missing the drivers.

Will not conect, Error 678, tryed resetting modem it was resetting, now nothing I pluged a phone in with out a microfilter would this damage the modem ??

If this is a dial up to Broadband connection. Double check your username and password. You must use the microfilter as this differentiates the signal on your phoneline. If you are connecting through a Router.Go to Internet Options in internet Explorer to advanced and make sure all check marks are removed in Lan settings/.

Check with your Network provider, and ask them if they can run a line check. No adsl can be problem with either the line or hardware.

But before that do check with your modem as well.
