Picture seem to go out & sound still working. I would get a white line in the middle of the screen. It seems like the whole picture just collapse into the white line. I also adjust the brightness of the screen but that just make the line brighter
Your problem is in the vertical deflection circuit. If you know how to solder it may just be a cold solder connection, but if you try to solder it and it still does not work, you may have a bad Vertical output IC. This set has really no user replaceable parts unless you have some no how on serviceing solid state printed circuit boards. If you dont , my advise would to seek out a repair depot and have them fix this set for you. It should not run more then 150 bucks or so. Good Luck

IMO Seriously for $119 it's not worth it.
However, it does sound like a capacitor problem
If you are "Serious" about fixing I'd find a TV repair Forum.
Else I'd go here and get a new one.

This is quite a common problem but it is hard to say what is causing it. Sometimes it is "dead pixels" like what you got on a tv screen if you leave it paused on a channel for hours. OR it could be the processor trying to keep up with you. If you can afford to - try and restore the device and see if the line is still there and let me know.
If the whole screen is just white light, the the LCD controller (t-con) board may have gone out. Your TV can have more than one version of the boards inside.

Hi I had the same problem. Broken white lines across the top of the screen. This is called overscan. You need to go into the Setup menu, other settings. 16:9 overscan needs to be on. Hope this helps. It solved our problem.
Hi, tubes getting tired, band-aid fix you can do is remove back of set and turn up(clockwise) the screen control( small black plastic control mounted on side of flyback transformer, do not turn the knob marked focus) until you see a whole bunch of white lines across the screen, then turn same control counter-clockwise until all the lines go away, try several different channels to be sure all the retrace lines are gone, you`ll get up to 1 year more use out of it, than she`s done, good luck, BMW Rider
this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
