HI spe 1,

First off you might want to take the serial number out of your post via the edit command. its valuable.

Ok so down to business. The answer your looking for is yes and no, i know not very helpful eh?

Disclaimer: i am not talking about the terms of service of any company.

some software is a one time buy, you buy it and you can install it on as many machines as you like with the same serial number. Other software is a one time install then the serial number is used or "burned" on the internet via there website and internet connection making it unusable for a new install ever again.
I know that autocad's serial number will allow you to do a fresh install on a new system; now whether or not they want you to is another story. Please check out their terms of use for that info.

I hope this helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to post them

Unable to load autocad 97 on windows vista

I don't believe Autocad will work at all on Windows Vista.

The only other solution I can think of is to download Virtual Box from http://www.virtualbox.org/

You will need to have an XP cd to install, and basically you will be installing an XP virtual machine, at which time you can then install Autocad 97 onto that virtual machine.

Hope this helps!

Do I have a Serial Port on my acer window vista home premium mfg date 12-18-2007

Most newer computer do not have serial ports but there is such a thing as a USB to Serial converter that might work to load what you need to load. USB to Serial converters don't always work but they are worth a try

I have a .dwg file that cause AutoCad 2009 to crash when I attempt to open it. I think that the problem is a missing or 'orphaned' X Ref, but I can't open the file to 'unload' the X Ref. What can I do to...

Thanks for your response.

To fix the problem I redrew the componenet and deleted the offending file. I found that I could open the file with AutoCad LT but not AutoCad 2009 Mechanical.

Best regards

I'm replacing a Linksys BEFW11S4 router with a newer Linksys model WRT160N. What do I need to do to uninstall the old one, if anything. Do I need to delete all my current connections? Thanks, Mike

It should not require any changes - since you're going from Linksys to Linksys, the IP address of the router is the same (I believe). So shut down your computer (one with a wired connection to the router!), unplug the old router, unplug your modem, plug in the modem and wait until the lights settle down, plug in the new router and wait until the lights settle down, boot up your computer and wait until it's fully booted. Open a command prompt (Start Menu/Run/cmd) and type ipconfig /all - see if you have an IP address assigned in the range of 192.168.1.x . If so, open up a browser and see if you can access 192.168.1.1; it should demand a login, use your new router's default login (in the manual) and make the changes you want (including a new password!) - change the name of your wireless network, set up security, etc. As long as you make your SSID and security identical to what you had on the old router, it shouldn't require any configuration changes on the computers (though it may require a reboot to make them see the router properly after the changeover).

I need to get a drawing in autocad lt 2004 into the background of the draft so when plotted out it will be alot lighter than the main linework

Transparent Toolbar Button images

To create a transparent background in the Button Editor for creating images in AutoCAD 2004 and higher. To do this you can use the Light Grey color in the lower-left corner of the swatch for AutoCAD 2002 and earlier, or the True Color 192,192,192 in AutoCAD 2004 and later.
