Hello my name is Jose Julio I'm a High School Student. First of all excuse my English.I need some help and I was wondering if anyone can give me a hand please, i will appreciate that. I have a TI-84 Plus, i have to make a program with nine formulas that the teacher just gave us. I really need your help, please a soon as possible please. I will give you the formulas, please help me. thank you so much. 1. y=mx+b 2. y=mx+b (perpendicular) 3. y=mx+b (parallel) 4. d=?(x2-x1)2+((y2-y1)2 5. m((x1+x2)/2,( y1+y2)/2) 6. c2=a2+b2 7. x1 =(-b/2)+?(b/2)2-ac x2 =(-b/2)-?(b/2)2-ac x=ax2+bx+c 8. y=kx (direct variation) 9. k=xy (inverse variation)
There is nothing wrong with your English. The problem with your request is that the program you are talking about is NO program at all, but a collection of formulas that may serve as a cheat sheet. If your teacher wanted you to make this program he would have shown you the steps to key in. Besides it would be a lot more efficient to just write these formulas on the board. Sorry, there will be no help from me.
Your formulas 2 and 3 are useless, and formulas 7 and for the real solutions of a quadratic equation are wrong. The right member should be multiplied by 1/a.
How about trying to learn your formulas by heart? It is good for your memory and you will avoid being caught cheating.

I'm not sure, but it probably gives the error because one of the values you entered isn't valid. It's too big or too small.

If this doesn't solve the problem, please let me know.

SOURCE: Parametric Graphing of Inverse Functions
if your looking to make a parabola out of it add
X3:T²+T
Y3:-T
X4:-T
Y4:T²+T
Those functions are not parabolas. since T² cannot be negative since negative times negative = positive. (unless it's an imaginary number, but thats a different story)

You may want to check the www.ticalc.org for the TI83. Programs are compatible. To put in your calculator, use the TIConnect software which you will find here.

Hello,
Your feeling about this calculator not being able to do symbolic algebra is correct. It can only handle numerical values. You are better off using pen and pencil to perform the calculations you are talking about.
If you have a lot of symbolic calculations to do (algebra, calculus) you may want to consider looking at a calculator with a CAS (Computer Algebra System) such as the TI 89/Titanium, TI Voyage 200 PLT, the TI Nspire CAS, HP 40G/49G+/50G, Casio FX-Algebra, Casio CFX-9860G,GII etc.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
There 4 or 5 programs for the TI83/4Plus family of calculators available at ticlac.org. Scroll down the page to find them. Download them and transfert to your calculator using TIConnectivity software.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using fixYa and for rating the solution.
