Mp3 froze then wont turn on

Hi guy's
I have a Creative Zen and it froze on me and now I cant turn it on. When i plug it into charge it says rebuilding library but before it finished, it turned itself off. I have tried to hold play while turning it on... does nothing. Tried to download firmware... says player is not connected. But when i hold the on button, the play/pause & return buttons keep flashing blue. The device hasn't been drooped or knocked or hasn't been exposed to water or sunlight. Please help me out!!!

    Thanks mate.
I tried using 3 other computers and na, didn't do anything. I'll send it back to creative. You definitely think it's a firmware problem?

Remove the battery first for about 3-5 mins. Try to connect the player to your computer using USB and format it first. If you are using an external memory card, remove it. Then try to reload the firmware.

Hi

the firmware needs to be reloaded into the mp3 player, but if its not working on the computer I suggest you try another computer, if it doesn't work there either you will need to send it to creative so they can do it for you as you can't do it if it doesn't work on the computer.

contact your dealer or creative support.

  • Yes its most likely a firmware problem, it may also be hardware, but creative will take care of it.

Creative Zen Freezes on Rebuilding

My Zen locked when I turned it on. It wouldn't play the track the screen was on so I pressed the reset button and turned it on again. It was then still locked on the same track so I tried turning it off which then froze as it was shutting down. After another reset it went through the rebuild screen then locked again. I then used the above fix (pin in reset, then hold play and power switch down). Taking me into the kind of bios screen I formatted the contents. Then added my library again. It's now working fine.
This is the second Zen I've had because the first one had the same problem so I took it back without trying to fix it. Both times the problem occured when I had my Zen plugged into my car stereo auxiliary jack whilst switching the ignition on in my car. I can't understand why this would cause the problem but I'll avoid doing that in future.

Creative zen

Don't buy this unit. The power system is prone to being blown out when disconnecting from USB. I've blown out two. I'm on my third. BAD DESIGN. AVOID IT!

Creative zen not recognized by computer

I was having the same issues with my Zen Vision M : 30 G. It was not recogznized on any computer, and when I turned it on after having it off for a large amount of time (24 hours), it would rebuild half way before completely turning on.
I did a TON of research and found nothing but I finally got my Zen to work by trial and error.  This is how I did it:
Download the MP3 Recovery tool on the Creative Support Website. Make sure that the MP3 player is at least half charged.   Turn on the mp3 player, holding the on power switch in the ON position. (Very important to hold the Power switch!) While holding down the Power switch, reset the Zen by inserting a small object into the hole at the bottom (thumbtack, wire, earring).  A menu will appear: Clean Up, Format (All), Reload OS/Firmware, and Reboot. I chose Clean Up first and this did not work for me so then I Format.  It will remove all of your data on your Zen.   After Formatting, Reboot your Zen and plug it up to your computer. Run the MP3 recovery tool again.   The Firmware should recognize your Zen, and once installed, so should your computer.
I hope this helps!

Help

I just got done fixing my daughter's Zen V 1GB which was frozen by holding down and keeping the play/pause button pressed and then powering it up. This will put the unit into recovery mode.

I selected "Clean Up" and this fixed the problem. I will assume the other options are a little more destructive to the stuff you've uploaded to it. Hope this helps!
