the repair man came out yesterday and did not take off the back panel at all. Without checking it first, he gave me an estimate for the ignitor and then took the whole inside apart. Once he tried the ignitor, and it came on,....he said it was then coil and another part. It is a gas dryer.

I cannot afford a new dryer right now, but would like this one fixed. Is it worth fixing for over $200, or to get a new one. The machine is three years old! The drum rotates, but there is no heat.

Oh yes, the vents are all clean and good ventilation throughout.

The heater box fuse has failed, most likely from a clogged vent on the back of dryer or wall, you can remove the large back panel to get to the fuse it is on the top of the heater box on the side,it is a small fuse, you can get one at sears .com click on parts put your model number in(inside dryer door)and get your part, let me know how you do-mike

Electric Dryer Does Not Heat
  • If your Whirlpool electric dryer is having trouble heating, you should check all of the thermostats, the thermal cut-off, all fuses and the electric heating element for continuity and proper connection.

My whirlpool gas dryer will not heat. It only spins.

If the dryer won't heat but does run, it is more likely to be the gas ignitor assembly, assuming there is gas available to the dryer. If the thermal fuse was bad, the dryer wouldn't start at all.

We have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II gas Dryer that is getting intermittant heat. Sometimes it will heat, sometimes it won't. Iin addition, today it stopped rotating as well. Ideas?

Could just be a matter of wires coming loose. The movement and vibration of the spinning could have shaken wires loose. look for any wires not connected to anything.

The heating compenent works, but drum won't spin

Have you checked the belt? That's generally the problem when a dryer stops spinning.

If it spins - you have a problem with the heating elements (usually they are 2 heating elements).I suggest you call a tech and have the deffective elements replaced
