We have a WeatherKing GU-80G-D3 unit. When the unit turns on, everything works fine for about 15 minutes and then the airflow stops throughout the house. This is true for A/C and for heating. Started doing this in September with A/C and we haven't needed heat until recently.
When the unit does start up, I can hear a humming that lasts a long time before the air starts blowing. It sounds like the blower fan is having a hard time getting started. I am assuming our blower fan is having a problem but wondering if replacement is necessary or taking the blower out and cleaning it would solve.

Re: Furnace Blower stops working after 15 minutes
Replace the blower motor. Cleaning of the blower and motor will help in the moving of more air but will NOT eliminate the real problem in the motor bearings. Over time the lubrication will dry out and bearing wear results.

Usually when there is a problem with a unit in the heating mode it default to the blower running. Could be one of the limit switches need to be reset - or it could be some other issue related to the heating circuit.
hello Miss/Mrs/Mr, I have the furnace trane xl 80, when I turned for heat everything working but only blower motor was not running, I wait for 1 minute all system suck down? I guess the capacitor blow out, that the reason why blower motor was not running
U need to supply more info. There will be a sticker on the furnace likely in the lower Fan Compartment which will have a legend that explains each error code...ie: 3 blinks = Pressure switch etc....and u will need to provide more info on how the furnace is operating (whats it doing ) when it stops working or just prior to that
If the burners do not fully ignite, the sensor will shut the furnace down. The lack of sufficient burner flame is a gas valve or gas pressure problem within the valve. Replacing the gas valve with the original one may get you going. I surely suggest a professional service company for safety reasons and a thorough inspection. A 20 year old furnace is past it's normal life span.
