My Leibherr fridge/freezer -- fridge section is filling up with water from the drain hole that is obviously clogged. I pulled the unit away from the wall and the hose is located behind the fins on the back...what is the easiest way to unclog this hose?

My Whitlpool Gold fridge GDSSHG is leaking water inside when the ice maker fills. Seems to be running down the back behind the metal backing and into the Bottom of fridge. Freezes there and then when that...

2 possible issues: 1st and most likely, water valve got stuck in open position - you need to shut water at the back of Your fridge and get new water valve. 2nd seen only couple times: when ice maker stuck in position when its calling for water, so valve opened all the time. As I said water valve 90% of a chance is bad. Hope that helps.

My fridge is leaking water from the top shelf down to the bottom and onto the floor

You most likely have a clogged defrost drain tube in the freezer, this diverts water through the damper into the fridge section in units with the freezer on top... Remove the back wall of the freezer and look beneath the tubing and you will see an ice pad... Use a turkey baster and warm water to reveal the drain hole, then force warm water down it until it is clear... Have some towels handy. Whirlpool Refrigerator Drain Strap 819043

GE PSDS5YGXCFSS - Water keeps pooling in fresh food section

Freezer /fridge water/ice in fridge and or freezer

Usually due to CONDENSATION due to bad door seals or a plugged evaporator drain line? Can use a soft flexable tubing and very hot water to clean it out. Bad door seals usually need replacement, but u can use a blow dryer and something to pry it closer to the door wall while blowing hot air on to it. To create a seal, to test for bad door seals place a dollar bill in between the door and wall of fridge where it closes. Then slide out the dollar bill with door closed. It should offer some resistance and not be easy to pull out.
Most all fridges have a drain. Look inside your fridge for a "V" shaped channel with a small hole. This hole leads to a tube and a small pan which sits on top of your refrigerator's compressor. The defrost cycle causes water to run into the channel, down the tube, and then it generally evaporates with the heat of the hot condenser/compressor.
However, if that tube is clogged with food crumbs, particles , debris etc, you will have to clear it to get back to a normal mode of operation. A toothpick, pipecleaner, straw or a cotton bud can often do the trick.
Even a frost free freezer will still ice up at times in the areas away from the heated defrost area and the drain line can freeze. This icing causes the pipe work to the compressor to ice over or sweat and cause a puddle. Or if the drainage has frozen over, it will need to be de-iced. ( usually the line is under the freezer bottom plate covering. Towards the back of the unit) And there is another inside the fridge area also.
Give the freezer a good overnight defrost until it's totally clear of ice in addition to making sure the drain is clear to the pan at the back and then restart the freezer.

HMG1947 with ice maker. Intermittent problem getting worse! I am getting water on the inside bottom, which will leak out onto the kitchen floor if I don't catch it with paper towels under the bottom...

Is the freezer section cooling properly. If yes, then problem is drain hole blocked in freezer section. There is a water drain hole, which runs to the drain line. But if the drain hole is got clogged by ice, then water will leak from other end and you get water in bottom drawer.-------- try manual defrost procedure.----------

The manual defrost reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. Then check, do you notice the same problem, if yes then defrost assembly board is faulty. But in most cases defrost reset procedure helps.----------- Thanks.Helpmech.

Why do i keep getting a puddle of water in the bottom of my frige? The water must be coming from the top because each day, there is water on top of the food containers all the way down to the bottom.

Sounds like you have a defrost drain issue. Often times these get clogged, and the back flow water drips into the fridge, usually the culprit on a GE is a clogged drain diverter, located on the outside back of the unit. Remove the tube by bending and pulling away from the diverter while holding the diverter firmly in place. Then turn the diverter one quater turn clockwise and it should pull down and away from the appliance. Clean this diverter out thoroughly, as it is likely full of gunk. However, on some older model GE top mounts, ive seen the drain pan underneath the evaporator coil inside the freezer with a small rust hole, and the water drips through this hole instead of the intended drain hole, the water then misses the tubing, and drips into the fridge. this drain pan will then have to be replaced.

Water is leaking into my fridge from defrost.

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system.

If in case the water is leaking on the floor then:--
There are several things to check for. The condensing defrost tray under the fridge can crack or develop a hole and leak onto the floor. A door gasket not closing properly may cause sweating and leak onto the floor. If your fridge has developed a frost free failure problem, often the frost will travel down the suction line at the back of the fridge and drip water on the floor. The heat exchanger tubing can separate and also sweat and drip on the floor. Ice maker and chilled water fill lines can crack and leak as well, this is fairly common with the plastic lines as they can dry out and crack.
Unplug the unit from main power outlet and empty whole unit and keep both the doors open and then connect the power after 24 hours and recheck. This procedure is called manual defrost reset. If this helps then its OK,but if this procedure not helping then its the faulty defrost unit and it needs to be replaced.

There is a small leak coming from a screw hole by the light in the refrigerator what could it be from water keeps dripping out

The drain inside the freezer is clogged. Your freezer goes into defrost every 8 to 10 hours. When it melts the ice built up on the coils, the water drains out of the freezer from a drain at the back down to a pan located under the fridge. You will need to remove the inside back panel of your freezer. Look at the bottom in the very back. There you will find a slopping place with a hole in the middle. This is the drain. There is something clogging that hole. I have found peas stopping them up. Take a turkey baster and fill with water. Push water into the drain hole then look for anything else that might clog the hole. Put unit back together. Problem solved.
