Well, looking at the diagnosis there are two possible problems. You could have both, or just one. Here they are and the solution.

1. Blown F2 fuse. The F1 and 2 fuses get blown most often. Between the two, it is the F2 if the system charges. Here is a website that will teach you how to solder it back together. This site has old and new DS systems on it. Before you solder make sure to check that it is broken with a multimeter.

2. Misconnected Ribbons. The easier, and more common problem is that a cable isn't in all the way, or it is crooked. You should just check all your ribbons, and double check them. Take them out, put them in again, make sure all the fixings (little black things that hold the little ribbons) are in, and the snaps are snapped. If you have lost a fixing, just post and say that and I will tell you how to MAKE a new one.

Well, this is quite tricky. You will have to use your imagination to understand my drawings, and it will be trial and error, but if you persevere then it will work.

First, you cut a piece of paper
the EXACT size of the ribbon, then you fold it up like this:

Sorta, well you leave just a bit flat and the rest should be folded up...

you insert that where the cable goes, then you put the cable in on TOP
of it. Close up the system and you system should run very, very

It is fairly tricky, as I said before. You can post another comment if you still don't understand.

This is only for the TINY ribbons that have the LITTLE BLACK FIXINGS.

I don't know how the Live Chat works, but we could possibly try that if it still doesn't work.

I turn on my ds green light comes on bottom screen flashes then turns off

    • 1 Turn off the Nintendo DS, and place it on the charger. Leave the device for 45 minutes to allow it to gain a full charge, and then power it back on. Weak Nintendo ds lite batteries may cause screen flicker.
    • 2 Turn off the DS, and remove all game cartridges. Turn the system back on to launch the main menu.
    • 3 Click the small sun icon to open the brightness menu. Adjust the brightness level using your stylus. Turn it up to max to improve back lighting.
    • 4 Check that the Nintendo DS is open and in the locked position. It must be open to its default position to operate properly.

My nintendo ds shuts off everytime i turn it on

Judging by you saying that it shuts off would suggests that it has power so the battery and charge is not an issue.

When you switch on the ds you should see one of the screens flicker on just before it powers back down.Which ever screen does not flash had a problem, the connection haseither come loose or the screen has developed a fault, in which caseyou will either have to send it away if its under warranty, take it toa local repair shop or replace the screen yourself.

Firstly whenyou take the ds apart disconnect the relevent screen and thenre-attatch it just to be sure if its the connection or not, if are-connection works then your sorted... if not you will have to replacethe screen.

The screens, both top and bottom can be bought fromebay. If its your top screen you will also have to do a bit ofsoldering as the speakers will need to be removed from the old screenand soldered onto the new one. If its the bottom screen you will needto carefully seperate the touch screen from the lcd screen2_bing.gif.

If you need any more help with changing the screens then give me a message and I will do my best to help you out.

If none of the screens flicker then get back to me and I will help you figure out whats going on.

Powers on, Screen Flickers

This is a common problem, if you are lucky you simply have not connected up or clipped back in the touch screen cable into its socket properly (connector is numbered P6 on the motherboard) the small ribbon type cable plugs into it. If you are not lucky, like moi, you have broken the flip up part of the connector, but this whole part can be replaced from as little $1 (US dollar), perform the following keyword search on ebay: "Touch Screen Connector P6 For Nintendo DS Lite NDSL" however the connector has to be soldered onto the motherboard, obviously you would have to unsolder and remove the old connector, if you have soldering experience, its a trivial task, if you cannot solder it yourself, you could always ask someone who can do it for you. If successfull you could save yourself having to fork out for a new DS lite! Good Luck!

Each time you charge your battery, the charge capacity is decreased. After a large amount of charges, the capacity is decreased to an amount only enough to turn on a/the screen(s) for a second. Try getting a new battery.

The system powers on, then performs a system check. The DS is finding some sort of error More than likely the top screen was damaged. I've been told that the screen that flickers is usually the good screen. The bad one doesn't flicker because it's damaged. You can replace the top screen yorself (if you're fairly handy), or you can pay a professional to do it. You can get new screens from for around 10US dollars, with free shipping. You can also find videos about how to change out the top screen on youtube. Hope this helps

DS Powering On

Hi, if the bottom screen briefly comes on with a white screen. There is a issue with the top screen, it is either the top screen itself or if there is damage to the hinge it will more than likely be the cheaper option the ribbon cable that threads though the hinge to the top screens PCB board.
