Question about Sony Ericsson K850i Mobile Phone

Phone Immersed in Sea Water = DEAD!

My phone (and I) went in the sea and after around 30 seconds I realised that it was in there, and since that day it has been dead. I left ot to dry for around 3 days and when trying to turn it on, the screen would go white and the phone would vibrate and thats all...

Since then it has become fully useless. I have been reading forums stating that WD-40 is a good way of fixing a water damaged phone.

I want my phone back :o(

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers
Matt

For many years it has been known that Electricity and Water do not go together. Since mobiles work with electricity - although low voltage - it is therefore NOT surprising that your phone no longer works.

Indeed the sea water is not only a very good conducter of electricity so it would have shorted out the delicate componants and that is why it no longer works, it is also very corrosive and therefore would make the phone unrepairable.

I'm afraid the only answer is to get a new one..

My nokia e51 dropped in sea salt water ten days ago, I dried it and opened its cover under the keyboard and cleaned it , it worked very well for a whole week, the problem is now the battery is not...

Hi,

The sea salt water has made the charging port corrode. So get a screw driver, open the phone and bring out the charging port. The charging port is where you put our charger. Use methylated spirit to brush the charging port and the panel where the charging port is place.

Dry it for 30 minutes and couple the phone and it will start working fine.

I Drop My Samsung J800 In the sea water and now it kinda

you can take the battery and the back off the device and place in completely submerged in a bag of white rice and leave it in there for 1 to 2 days this will help absorb the moisture, this should fix it if the water did not damage the circut boards if the water damaged the circut boards then the device is fried

N95 got wet with sea water. No 9 do the same as " play " button

depending on how long ago it got wet.... if it was recently, take it apart and put it in a bag of uncooked rice, the phone and battery apart. if you keep it there about three days, it should work fine.

Dropped Sony Camcorder in sea water

This isn't a solution specific to your problem, but maybe similar enough to help. I've dropped both my cell phone and iPod in the water. My friend told me to fill a bowl with uncooked rice and submerge the cell phone in the rice to draw out the water - took about 2 days and all was working fine - same with the iPod, but it took longer (about a week.) You might want to gently clean the battery connections with a Q-tip if you're seeing residue. Good luck!

Fell in the sea and the phone went dead

you will have to get a new phone.
the sea water inside your phone will corrode and damage everything.
you can try placing the phone in a baggie with uncooked white rice and seal it for about a week, then replace the battery with a new one and see if it works.
thats your only option besides getting a new phone.

Dopped in sea water :-(

Water may have created short circuits and might have damaged both, the battery and the phone.

Since sea water contains salt and this is very damaging for all electronics devices, I would probabli advise you to completely clean the circuit boards etc with alcohol. You can probably set it from maplin or RS Components. They call it ethanol and is good for cleaning circuit boards as it evaporates quickly.

So after you cleaned it, leave it to dry and if nothing has been damaged then you may be a lucky person.

Water damage

It might be to late, but doesn't hurt to try, keep battery / sim card out, and put the phone in a freezer, if you don't have a freezer place it next to an air vent, wait over night (10 hours at least) And you should see water dripping out, warm it in your hands for about 20 seconds, dry it out with any towel / cloth place the sim card than battery in, if it doesn't turn on contact your phone company from a land-line about your insurance
