Question about Audiovox AVT1498 TV

Open Question

Audiovox AVT1498 I have had the same problem with my Audiovox 13 in. tv in my conversion van. I am on my third tv and the same thing keeps happening. After a short time the picture goes out and will not come back. The sound works fine. It used to come back on if you turned the tv off and then back on. But now it will not come back on if it comes on at all. I have not been able to locate any recalls on this set. Buy a new tv is getting old. Any ideas?

SOURCE: fatal error, unable to open application database

Have you tried the reset button? It would be found on the lower right side on the rear panel. Don't really know if this will fix your particular problem, but it might be worth a shot.

SOURCE: Audiovox FPE3206 - Power Light is Blue/ON but Screen is BLACK

I had the same problem, except with a flashlight I could see AUDIOVOX when i turned it on and I could see the video when I put a DVD in. It is hard to see even with a flashlight so you have to look closely. Well, I researched and investigated what might be the problem because I was upset that I had the TV for less than two years. Everyone was saying the inverter was defective. Apparently the inverter is what gives the LCD screen the back light to see the video. So I called audiovox and found that thier part's selection was only a power board and a remote control for this TV. I asked them if they could get me an inverter and they did. With shipping cost it was approximately $150.00. They ensured that I know that there is no refund on this part (which is common for electical parts). So I took a chance on it not being the right part for the problem. I replaced the defective inverter myself and it worked. It solved my problem. The inverter is a circuit board that plugs in and has a few screws to hold it in place. I had to remove the back cover first and a couple of brackets inside the tv to get to the inverter and replace it. There is a quite a few screws so I recommend writing down where each came from for easier reassembly. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Audiovox LCD FPE3206 problems

Hi, All.
I ordered a new power supply module on ebay. Cost about 106.00 delivered. Came in a few days. I replaced the unit, bunch of screws, all wires were cable plugins, no problems at all.
After reassembly, it worked. What can I say? Sometimes ya just get lucky.

I had the same issue on a used '93 Chevy Mark III conversion van that I just purchased. You didn't state any specs of your van. However in my van, I found that the JVC CD player's factory preset settings needed to be changed from "CHANGER" to "LINE IN". The audio output is through my car stereo speakers. Hope this helps, Jim

2005 Conversion Van has TV What do I need to do to receive Signal

If the audiovox does not have digital capability you will need a converter. The converter "converts" the digital signal back to the old signal so that your tv will recognize and play it. Thanks for using fixya.

You may very simply buy a power converter and hardwire this between the TV and any 12 Volt powersource. This way you will be able to turn off and on at your own will with no worries about power drain. The inverter may be purchased at wal-mart, target, or any audio sound store for that matter. Good luck

No picture but have sound

RDD6 - I had the same problem with my AVT-1498. Took it to the repair shop who told me it would cost hundreds to repair. I figured I could find a replacement crt for less but was wrong - they don't make these tv's anymore, and really don't make any 12v crt's anymore period. So I decided on a 15" 12v ready LCD model which fit the hole where the old crt TV use to be. I needed to rig it to hold the LCD bracket but that wasn't too difficult. Then just hooked the wires back up. Good luck with your situation.

T.V. overheating in our conversion van

If you suspect overheating then try removing the back and clean out with a long, wooden handled artists brush. Make sure the children are not about and try it with the back off, but do not touch things inside. You may blow cold air if you see what is overheating. See how long it works OK for. If it works without going off (assuming it was very dusty inside), then replace the back. If it needed a fan to keep it working you may find out what needs replacing.
