If you have plugged a usb mouse into the laptop and it does not recognise it then reboot the computer and let windows pick it up and load the driver for it. do you have a ps2 port on your laptop for a mouse?

If you have got a usb mouse plug it into your computer then go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager and go to pointing devices. Right click on the + sign next to keyboard and touchpad, click on uninstall. Then reboot your machine, take the usb mouse out. Windows will reload the correct drivers for the keyboard and touchpad as new hardware and your problem should be resolved.

I hope this helps

hi

your touchpad may not be working due to following reasons.
  1. the touchpad driver not installed or corrupted. try reinstalling the driver.
  2. due to improper usage of the pad it is demaged.
  3. the button which activate the tochpad is off.
  4. the sensor got weak due to degradation with time.

Touchpad and keypad problem

if it does'nt work at all, use a usb mouse to do this proceedure.

Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mice and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad and select uninstall, do the same on the keyboard line and then restart the pc, remove usb mouse.

Both touchpad and keyboard will be reinstalled and then ready to use again
