-   When connecting the power the welcome appears for approx 10 seconds then powers off. This repeats after about 35 seconds.-   sony860

-   Hi, I have a RDR HX825 Sony HDD recorder and I have the same problem. I get the message welcome and then nothing. I can reset the system by holding the power for 10 sec but nothing happens. I hear the harddisk and the fan but no signal output and nothing on the display.-   Guest

-   Also have this same problem. "Welcome" then a bit of noise from fan and HDD, then dies again, and back to "Welcome".  So far tried:
Removing power for several mins. Holding down power button for 10-15 seconds. Holding down power button while powering up from mains.
With TV connected, just a grey screen. Unit NOT booting up so no system menus appearing. Looks fatal to me. Not got a lot of hope from other web comments, apparently Sony just say take to a service centre. 
Hope a solution is possible. Otherwise It will be a Humax. Lost faith in Sony i think. -   richardprice
