My ps3 failed to down load error code 8200F14E and i can not start my ps3

Ok this is a bit of a difficult one. It will involve taking apart your ps3. What you have to do is strip your ps3 right down to the motherboard. On the motherboard is a battery which is basically the systems memory. Remove the battery and short the terminals of the battery holder together. Follow this guide for disassembly instructions :

http://www.llamma.com/PS3/repair/PS3_disassembly_tutorial.htm

Once you have done that, put your PS3 back together by working in the opposite way to the guide.
Now you need to prepare your hard drive. Connect it back up to your computer. Goto control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management. Then click disk management.
Your PS3 drive will be listed in the drives at the bottom of the disk management window. Now this one is a little hard to explain. The letter of the drive and drive information is listed in a square box. It may say "Uninitialised". You have to right click your mouse in this area where it says this. You should see an option to initialise disk. Do this. It basically turns your drive back on. After this on the right of the area where it said the drive letter it should now be a longer box with "Unnalocated space". Right click this area and select "Create simple volume". Go through the options but MAKE SURE you do not have a tick in the box that says "Format Drive". You must not format it.

After it has created a simple volume the disk should be listed as "RAW data".

Next you need to download the latest update to USB memory stick.

Put the hard drive back into the PS3 and go back into the recovery menu as before. Select system update. Follow the instructions to install from external media.

The following information is just as important to get right. If you do not get it right you will have to start at the beginning and take the PS3 apart again.

Right before the point where the update is failing, in your case 68%, remove the hard drive. The installation will stop and an error will come up with a countdown from 60 seconds. Let the countdown finish and the PS3 will restart. When the PS3 retsarts the screen will be blank, replace the hard drive.

After about 30 seconds to a minute the console should come up with a screen saying the hard drive needs to be formatted. If you get this then the procedure has worked and your PS3 should be brought back to life.

The reason this happens is normally due to a hardware failure, usually the blu ray drive. The update checks to make sure that everything is working properly.

If this procedure does not work then you unfortunately have irrepairable firmware damage which is going to have to be sent to Sony to fix.

Hope this helps and let me know how you get on.

Playstation 3 says the hard disc file is corrupted

i have been scanning these answers for hours trying to find something that worked. i didnt want to buy another hard drive or enclosure to plug it into my pc so i tried this..... It worked first time, i just turned the system on waited for it to start getting into the loop then pulled the hard drive. it read error on the screen, the ps3 turned off. i turned it off at the power switch, plugged the hard drive back in and turned it back on and it worked first time, went straight to first time setup! im well pleased!

Hard disks file is corrupted

Has it asked you to reformat the hard disc? If you have tried that and it still doesn't work then you may need a new hard drive. Don't worry, for $20-$50 (US) you should be able to fix it. Without knowing what happened before that it's hard to say. But my best guess is that the hard drive is internally damaged in some way. Just take off the small panel on the left side, remove the screw, use the little handle and gently pull to the right then out. It should be a Seagate SATA hard drive 20, 40, 60, or 80GB. Just buy a new one from your local store or online. Make sure that you mark the bad one before you get the new one near it so you don't get tem mixed up. Then remove the 4 little screws on the mountinng cage, switch hard drives, install back into PS3 and it will give you the format screen again. Click yes and it will format, turn off, back on, and you should be all set!!

I turned on my ps3 and on the screen it says: The hard disk's file system is corrupted and will be restored. So after I click ok it reboots and starts up all over again. I tried it several times and it...

This problem always happen when you switch off your console while it is saving data or reading data from the HDD, so your HDD file system damaged, in order to solve this problem you need an external SATA 2.5 hard disk case, extract your PS3 hard drive and insert it in the SATA 2.5 case, plug your hard disk to a computer, you will find that the whale hard disk is unallocated, so format it with FAT32 or NTFS using your computer, after that return your hard disk to your PS3 console, now, your PS3 console will recognize it, and it will ask you to format it, say YES!!... congratulation your PS3 console is working now

BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA IN THE HARD DISK INCLUDING YOUR SAVES, IMAGES, MOVIES AND ALL YOUR STUFF

If the above solution does not work you would have to buy a new HDD for your PS3

Start up problem

Hi, it sounds like your hard drive isn't booting up properly. Try taking it out and putting it in another PS3, if it acts the same way then your hard drive is probably damaged and needs replaced.

if there is any way that you can get to your ps3's main memory, either restore your system or open up your ps3 and find its memory and take it out and put it back in.

Start up PS3

If you have tried it a few times it may be a damaged HDD. You can do two things. Buy a new HDD (2.5 inch SATA drive) or contact Sony and see what they have to say.
