I was playing cod5 and everything was going fine, i played about three online games or so. And when the next game was about to begin, when it said "setting up game.." it stayed on that screen for 10 minutes, until the game was over. And ever since then it does the same thing, and I tried COD4 and another online game and it stops on the same "setting up game..." Also when it does it, the xbox never freezes cause I can exit at anytime to go to xbox dashboard. Also I did the test connection and it said everything was fine, but about 2 monts ago my xbox had some red lights I am not sure witch ones were lit up, I just turned it off and then on again and it fixed it. Could the ethernet port be going out on the xbox? I just think that it is weird that I can get on xbox live but I cant play games. Also when you go on to cod4 or 5 and hit multiplayer online it takes like 15 times as long as it used to be to load my profile. Thanks in advance
Imma suspect its overheating. beings the fact youve experienced the red ring of death in the past. its either overheating or the hard disk is going bad. unless your using a memory unit. then id point the finger at overheating. the x360 is basically a computer. and when the cpu and gpu overheat or experience harsh temperatures they tend to run sluggish and their performance goes down the **** till they cool down or overheat to the point that the system locks up and crashes/hangs. if you can post more info as much detailed as you can i may be able to more help ya!

You were just lucky if you played xbox on hotspot because you usually always have to be connected to direct internet to play on xbox. Maybe you were connected and didn't know it. I've tried it on hotspot, it never works, it always says need internet connection.
So you have a 3month live membership and are positive you still have Xbox live but cant seem to play with anyone online.
This can only be because you have either been banned from Xbox live for what ever reason or you simply ran out of your 3 months
Your xbox games? Going online with the console may fix the problem there also is a way to patch the iso to make the games work on the xbox360. This requires backing them up to your computer and saving them to a iso file then patching it with the patcher. The patcher can be found online its called from_xbox_to_xbox360.rar It teaches everything there is about getting your backup to play on xbox 360. I'm unsure if this patcher requires your xbox 360 to be modded. If you mod your xbox 360 you could get banned from xbox.
Best possible solution is to see if you can get an update for the game you are trying to play through xbox live. Some games will play if they are compatible.
well if hes played online you can go to the friends menu and tab over to where it shows previous players and will show you leangth and game played and if its on the new dashboard go to my xbox and the tab next to your avitar it will show the last three games played
I think because it was a BETA. They just wanted feed back, so they can tweak with the COD 5 game. That same thing happen when Halo 3 BETA came out after several week you couldn't play it no more. I have the same problem, ask your online buddies and see if they can get on. Hope that helps.
If you want to modify your game console for instance, your xbox 360. When you modify it, you won't be able to go online. It's a one time decision, so i rather go online&play on xbox live than sit around and play other games with someone else in multiplayer mode. Play other skillful players around the country or play the same people next to you over & over again? So, don't modify it but, if you do you lose the option of going online.
