run it by using a shortcut key of run and typing in explorer.exe and tapping run . this will work.

Hi , i suggest try running the driver setup in "custom mode" checking option : clean install , to remove previous possibly corrupt installed settings
Also access BIOS setup and change "first seek peg" or some such, so BIOS communicates to Windows to first seek video device expansion card rather than onboard
(ps , if changed from onboard to expansion card ensure the onboard control applet for onboard video has been uninstalled via add/remove)
You should enter Bios setup when restarting and check that it says AGP or PCI for video display. You can then go to Start then Run and type in msconfig. Go through the list for the startup menu and make sure that NVIDIA is displayed with a checkmark. When you installed the new driver, also make sure that you disabled the default VGA driver too. You may have to check that out. If both are running there will be conflict. Any questions, please don't hesitate.
Is appears your Compaq desktop will be able to upgrade to a PCI Express graphics card.
I have provided a link to the EVGA site for you to copy and paste into your web browser to review the board specifications for compatibility with your computer as well as what operating system you have. They will work with XP, Vista or Windows 7. Also have 1GB video memory.

1. Try to start in SAFE Mode by press f8 while booting. If successfull.
2. Press F8 again select enable VGA mode and continue.
3. Your monitor is not supporting the resolution reduce and restart it will work fine.
4 To reduce the resolution desktop right click, select properties goto tab setting - reduce resolution
the problem occured probably because of a power shortage of motherboard battery malfunction, if your motherboard has an integrated graphics card you then need to enter setup and disable it or choose which graphis card your pc has to use but you have to do this while connected to the on-board vga slot as the other one won't be working, you will problably find the choice under the
'integrated periferals" menu in the setup menu, and to access it you have to press the "DEL" button when your pc starts-F10 in some devices-
