I have a Magellan Maestro 4040 That will no longer pingower on.
This device was working fine for about 3 weeks. Then it would no longer power on. I don't think it is charging properly or at all. I have tried to charge it with the car charger and with theht USB attachment to my computer and it will not power on or anything what could it be ?
I bought it from a friend and it was working but it seems like the conector for the car charger to the device is a very loose conection. Has anyone else had this problem

This is a very common problem with these magellan 3140 and also the 3100,2000,2200t,2500,4000,4040 and the 4050
most likely the power port is damaged and needs replaced.i have these power ports but often they just need re soldered..i can repair these magellan gps if you need help. if i cant fix it there is no firstname.lastname@example.org ...
to open the case on a 4040 you must start on the power button side, otherwise youll break the unit

I was able to fix this same problem by doing a hard reset, and re-synching with my computer. To do a hard reset, press the power button and the two center buttons, all at the same time. Hold them down for about 10 seconds - when you let go, the tablet will start trying to synch again. Once you go through the synching steps again, everything should work properly.
Most likely a motherboard problem, though you can try and re-do windows, best bet on getting it all to work is Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Though this might really get on your nerves having to do this multiple times, id get a new motherboard.

It seems a lot of people are having problems with the Protron power supply. I’ve been able to repair all the ones I’ve seen so I’m confident I can fix them. I don’t sell the replacement power supply but I’ve heard about the ones on EBay. They seem to be a mishmash of two power supplies (12vdc and 24vdc) wired together with the proper connector. This should work but it just doesn’t sound very clean looking to me and they end up costing $150. I’ve been charging between $50 and $100 to repair these power supplies. My recommendation would be to send me the power supply I’ll check it out and unless it’s unusually damaged it will cost $50 plus shipping to repair. If I can’t repair it I’ll return ship it and only charge for shipping. I will guarantee the repair for 1 month. I don’t know what’s causing the power supplies to fail so I can’t guarantee it any longer than that. My feeling about the reason the Protron power supply stops working is two part; could be overheating due to lack of proper ventilation to the power supply; or the TVs power requirement is overdriving the power supply. if you are using the USB cable, that won't work. You must use the bracket plug. the USB cable will charge the unit and you can't use it while it's charging. If using the USB, the system thinks you are either charging the unit or connected to a computer. This is a design flaw.
I had this problem in the very beginning and a few times after. What worked is the following. Put it to charge for at least half an hour. You won't see it is charging or anything. Then, while connected to the charger, press the reset button. Have you guys tried it like this already?

if you had brought it from india , you better contact the vndor and ask for its warranty support man
give a try connect the i river to another computer with windows xp (i prefer)
and then install the software bundled up with your device and try to format the device via the software and then disconnect the device and power it on
it will work i think
