I just bought COD 5 and it required a system update so i did it but it froze up due to an error so i clicked to ok icon and proceded to start over. I shut the system down and turned it back on but nothing came up no start up screen or anything. The controler dosent even seem to connect neither does the dvd remote... The light is green and thats it... If I put in a disk it loads but nothing else happens and I am able to eject with no problems

Re: Turns on but wont load
Well it seems the system update has "bricked" your machine. i have a shop and we see this all too often. sometimes if you pull the CMOS battery out and replug it that will work. the system update seems to temporarily "overheat " the RSX processor resulting in a no video output. letting it cool for an hour an repowering also tends to help sometimes. if under warranty call SONY or pay them 150plus tax for repair...and it can happen all over again with the refurb they send you.....(sigh) we fix those problems for $55 (you py shipping)

This is a worldwide issue with the Sony Network today which might be due to system maintenance. Sony is working on the problem and the issue will be fixed soon.Kindly wait for further updates from Sony. Your system should work normally when the issue is fixed.
well, it must be a problem with your game files, because most loading processes are done by the Installed game files . if other blu-ray games are running well, i guess you don't need to worry about the lens .
Sorry timehrhart you've just copied a huge section from Xbox Scene forums without mentioning the Reset codes.
Back to the question - E71 is due to a dashboard update, most new Xbox consoles get this error due to missing a patch that was available to download when the new Xbox dashboard came about.
To fix this you have to clear all game updates and clear the console cache and update your console via Xbox Live. To do this on the old dashboard layout go to the 'System' blade and then Console / on the new dashboard go to 'My Xbox' tab and then go to the far right and choose the 'System Settings' and then Console and then go to the 'Memory' section. Press Y and enter this code - X,X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X.
You will get a message asking if you want to clear your cache, press Yes and just wait for it to do it's thing and it should come back to the dashboard. Now you have to update your console via Xbox Live and hopefully it should fix the problem.
If this should fail then you have to send your Xbox back to Microsoft for it to be fixed. Microsoft have extended the warranty of any Xbox to 3 years if it has the E71 or Red Ring of Death error, so hopefully you should be covered.
