LG vertical failiure vertical line at the bottom of the crt
21'' colour tv LG goldeneye model no:RF21FC80E a horizontal line was coming on the bottom of d crt n when i checked d vertical section ic LA 7840 was replaced n den picture came up to the mid of d crt bu it still wasn't coming at the top , processor ic. no. TDA9381PS/N2/3I0955, the resistors n capacitors n the path of the signal n supply are ok. plz help me out

First, You should to replace by original part, then you should check the voltages on power supply, and check the voltage for vertical IC based on datasheet, also check the voltages on vertical section including yoke and last you should check the ESR capacitors on vertical section.
Horizontal line on screen denotes the absensce of vertical sweep itself. Check the vertical output section circuit to LA7840. Check for any loose solder terminals. It will be best to measure the input voltage to that IC from the LOT secondary supply. Try by replace the IC. If these do not help you, measure the frequency from the main IC. It should be at 50Hz. If this frequency is not present, the main IC is faulty. If you wish to get some more details about the circuit, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull

option. Schematic diagrams, that show vertical IC LA7840 is given. You can compare it.
hi if only a horizontal line across with no video anymore, you have bad either vertical ic or no dc supply b+( vertical ic ) or no output dc coming from the ic. if it is not totally a horizontal white line and you can see a video you must check leak or bulged capacitors at the vertical section near the vertical ic. hope this can help good luck.
The problem of your teevision is what we called the vertical line problem. The problem is in the vertical section of the board. There are many of cause of that problem.First is either loose connection, the circuit at the vertical section have cold solder so its need to resolder using soldering iron.Second,it maybe no vertical supply, its better to check the 12 volts dc supply of vertical ic output.if thers no supply in the ic,there a open resistor near the flyback.try to replace.Third if theres no loose connection and have a voltage supply the problem is either leaked capacitor or deffective vertical ic output.
Commonly in that problem is the loose connection, try to resolder the verical section.
hi there, is the single line horizontally or vertically? if horizontal line, you do have a vertical section problem, check some parts at vertical section, the vertical ic, the power source of vertical section ie diode & resistors. ty
My LG tv has suddenly got a problem with the picture. Whilst watching the tv with no problems at all,
the picture was suddenly reduced to a thin vertical line down the centre of the screen
and an awful smell seemed to come from the tv
There is a short ckt in your tv in horl. section.
1 isolate power from horizontal section.
2 check for normal output from power supply.
3 check parts in horl output section
a hor.output transistor
b diode & cap in h/output trnsformerckt.
c check for print.
d if all are ok check for eht transformer.
e if every thing becomes then reconnect hor output section supply.
f put on the set.
Sounds like something is getting hot causing voltage loss or drive pulse loss to the vertical IC. Maybe you have a bad solder joint. Try tapping the circuit board around the vertical section. A capacitor could be heating and opening up.
Also you might try using circuit cooler spray and make the problem show up.
