I've had a Protron 32" LCD HD TV for 2 months now. About a month ago it started acting up. It will all of a sudden emit a loud popping noise and then one of several things happens: it usually freezes the picture and then goes black or blue, or it then emits a piercing, high pitched sound and then freezes the picture and then goes black or it just goes black. In each circumstance the green light on the front of the tv which indicates that it is active turns to red which means the power is in sleep mode. At this point the only way to get it going again is to turn it off completey via the back side power button, essentially resetting it, because the remote ceases to function until you do. It occurs multiple times in a row but randomly. It will be fine for a week or two then occur several times in a few days. Protron tried to blame it on the cable system (Comcast). Is this a power supply problem? Has anyone else experienced this?
Funny to see this because this is exactly what is happening to my 32 inch TV and I was researching to see if some one else had this problem and right away I find this, I've had my set for over a year now, and I have no solution at this time, but I will continue to research this, I figured that Protron would blame the cable company, that's what company's with crappy products usually do. Blame someone else.

I actually have an update for my original problem. After several calls to Protron who directed me to my cable provider - Comcast - I decided to follow their advice to see where it might lead me. Comcast came out and decided my digital signal was somewhat weak and then they bumped up the power from the street connection and gave me a new digital receiver. Low and behold it has solved my problem! So, let this be a warning to all Protron (or other HD digital TV owners) users, make sure your cable signal is strong as a weak one can seriously compromise your picture. I learned just short of packing up my TV and sending it out for repair. It's been fine ever since. In addition, my regular channels and non-HD channels are significantly better. Signal is everything! Sorry Protron, it was Comcast's fault after all!
I have heard today by a television repair person who posts solutions for all sorts of tvs on YouTubethat a noisy sound may also be because the wiring in the house has not got the neutral conection from the outside of the house connecte to the inside of the house, or maybe that Neuitral connection is broken somewhere in hte house. I am in NZ and a neutral connection to me sounds like it is the earth connection. Anyhow, the solutin is to check the house wiing to be sure the neutral is connected ok. Any power surge problems to other devices like computers may also be be caused by this neutral thing being disconnected. This is hearsay top me and not proven but the quality of his electronic solutions videos has me rating him highly. of the guys videos
to add to my last comment, the noise comes from a transformer in the television and may be a step up sort of transformer.
