Question about Gateway (4000274) Motherboard
My Gateway tower is only 3 yrs old. It has been sounding slower more recently. Yesterday when I hit the power button it wouldn't boot up. It sounded like it was wanting to, but the fan just ran constantly. The only thing that came on the monitor for just a few seconds was the color squares and 'no video'.
The Geek squad told me it was probably the motherboard and I should just get a new tower. Any ideas?
can you reset the c-mos ? maybe a failed motherboard. take your pc in and let them check the cpu and mobo to see which one has gone Vica versa.

as you say that old speaker is working from the same tower means your computer is ok.
the problem is in speaker only.
plz chk that while shifting some wire must have broken or loose or speaker not connected properly.
ultimately chk connection.
