I am trying to use the webcam on windows live and I get the video part but no voice. I tried to record a video also and I have the same problem... I just bought this camera brand new and I don't understand what I am doing wrong that it doesnt record any voice... Please let me know
-   This seems to be a recurring issue. I just opened this same webcam new from the store, video started working just fine but no audio. I reinstalled all the software, tried different USB ports, installed the drivers again from HP website, checked all the audio options and nothing works. The computer does not detect that there is a microphone present therefore I cannot choose it as a device to use versus the line-in microphone jack. Believe this may be a poor quality product because I am definitely not the only person with this problem.-   kseiple

-   No. even on the VideoImpression software that came with the Camera, it does NOT allow you to select the integrated mic. Only your audio card. When I use a stand alone mic on the input jack it works fine. But I bought a camera with a built in mic and it should work dangit. I have this same problem on a web application... no settings to control mic input. So i think this product is going back to the store... sorry HP.

-   I have the same problem, except my microphone isn't listed in the windows audio recorder drop down menu, or on the skype drop down menu for audio settings. The headset works and the video does but I can't access the integrated microphone

Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card. 2. Then click on the Video Settings. 3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture. 4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:
1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it. 2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it. 3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card. 4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to. Hope this helps. Bud

Dell Latitude D630 Original Question: I have a HP 1.3 Megapixel Notebook webcam, the version with USB input
only. I'm operating on Vista, 32-bit. I don't have the disc for the
software; I bought the webcam secondhand. I've tried installing
a number of drivers from the HP website and none of them seem to work.
Some seem to be intended for a different version of the cam (I've seen
the words "Ultimate" and "Ultra" tacked into the name). Does anyone
know where I can find the correct driver? I've already tried: http://tinyurl.com/6xusn5 Solution #1
