Non Duplex Audio on Calls over T-1s from an Avaya Definity ''R''

When making outbound calls over our T-1s from our Avaya Definity ''R'' PBX, the called party can't hear the calling party, but our calling party can hear the called party. There are three trunk groups in the switch, 1st trunk group is LD, two way PRI with NI2 Variant and T-1 cards are set for NI2. Second trunk group is a PRI CLEC for local and also set for NI2. Third Trunk group is another two way LD PRI set for Variant 5ESS. Sporadically this problem occurs, but never on the third trunk group which is set for 5ESS. Since the problem is occuring on both Trunk groups one and two, at the same time, and trouble tickets to the Carriers show nothing (no errors, etc) Is there something in the Definity ''R'' programming that could cause this? We just switched to the ''R'' from a Definity ''SI''. We never had the problem with the SI and had the same Carriers with the same trunk groups before the changeover. This is a sporadic problem and only happens two or three times daily and is not a large percentage of calls.

Have already looked at every setting we know of and going back to the SI is not possible, as we have outgrown it.

Need somone with Avaya expierience who is familiar with where this problem may lie.

  • askonce1 Nov 12, 2008

We had our regular Avaya Tech look at this and they can't locate the problem or solution.

Please, These kind of absurd comments will only serve to have people avoid using your advice. This is a production system in a call center. It takes 3 days to program the MapD and all functions after removing the current programming and restoring to factory defaults.

Did you recently re-do some settings or changes on the problem trunk groups? Try going back again to the "R", do some test calls then switch back to "SI".

Voice mail light signal remains turned on

You apparently have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

I have an Avaya 8403 Definity. I need to know how to forward my calls to another phone in our clinic.

http://support.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100011072 Above is the support from Avaya's site. To transfer a call, press the Transfer button and dial the extension of the other phone in the office. The instructions for this can be found on page 23-24 of the manual linked above.

I have a direct phone # coming into AVAYA Definity Switch. I do not have any display options. The phone is a 6408D+. I need to know how to forward incoming calls to a cell #.

It looks like you want to turn on Call Forwarding. If you don't have a call forward button programmed/labeled, then you need to know the FAC (Feature Access Code) to manually turn the feature on. If you don't have the FAC codes, then you need to log into the Avaya Definity to get them. You can find get excellent remote Aaya support @ http://www.avayaurgentsupport.com/ for only $3 a minute.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE TIME OR FIND OUT WHAT TIME THE PHONE IS ON?

Hi time is set on the PBX depending on the version of CM its either done on the web interface or from the command line. If you are on > CM1 there is an NTP section to add a network time protocol server IP address, the pbx will correct the timeslip with that server

Caller ID not working

This is a Definity system phone. The phones themselves have nothing to do with caller ID, it's the system that handles it. The phone line has to have the caller ID service AND the phone system needs to collect the information and then display it on your phone. If you are sure caller ID service is available on the phone line you are using than this is a programming issue. Definity is a huge system and you cannot program it yourself. Someone in your building is either in charge of making simple changes in the phone system or contacting the company that makes these changes for you.
