Question about Denon AVR 2808Ci Receiver

1 Answer

Subwoofer Connection Problem

I just got this receiver (Denon AVR-2808CI) and I can't get any (very very little) sound out of the subwoofer in any mode. I also just bought a Polk PSW505 300 watt sub and I have to max out the volume and low pass dials to hear anything at all. I am using a new Audio Quest Sub-A interconnect cable and even tried using another sub and cable and still virtually no volume at all. I played around with all the setting I could find & not even for a second could I get normal sound. Could the sub-in plug be defective?
Please help
Thanks
Rick

I can't get the subwoofer recognized by the receiver. If I plug the sub into the dvd, it works....

I have had this identical problem since purchasing my AVR-2808CI well over a year ago. The audyssey sets the subwoofer level at a ridiculously low level. The internal sub level of my AVR-2808CI must be and is manually set to MAXIMUM and my Polk PSW650 sub level volume is set at approximately 9 of 11. Substantial subwoofer distortion results when I push the receiver volume (-10db & louder) when big subwoofer content is present. I'm not happy with this receiver even though I have experienced no other problems with it.

Why don't you both return these units and call Denon for replacements without these problems?  Sqeaky hinges get the oil.

Cant get my sub to work on my denon avr2808 and dont think it ever has it doesnt even work on the test signal

Hello
There are four possibilities that the subwoofer doesn't gives any aoutput. They are:

• Subwoofer's power not turned

on.

•The "Subwoofer" setting at

"Speaker configuration" is set to

"No".

•The subwoofer is not properly

connected.

•The subwoofer's volume is
turned off.
Go to its manual setupscreen, come to speaker setup, speaker confuguration, come towards Sub Woofer, select "Yes" and press OK.

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
